First look pics

For those who did first look pics, can I see?? We are leaning towards doing first look before the ceremony. Do you feel that taking pics beforehand helped you to enjoy the rest of your day more?

Re: First look pics

if you are able to do pics before the ceremony i def suggest it
we had no choice (our ceremony was at our RH) so our only option would have been to miss the cocktail hour for photos
but i think it was great...we did the first look, then took pics with family, bridal party etc and had the ceremony. after the ceremony we had 20mins together alone which was just nice to have.
i dont have my pro pics yet, but here is a photo of me walking up to him before he turned around to look....

Re: First look pics

we are taking all of our pictures before the ceremony and it was something FH and I both wanted! We love the idea of dong a reveal and getting all of our pictures out of the way so we can enjoy our cocktail hr and reception with one less interruption

Re: First look pics

we took pics before hand and I am so so glad that we did it!

I could not possibly imagine taking pics during my CH. The day went by so quickly as it is. We spent a few hours doing pics, so if we had to cram it all into one hour during CH, I think I would have been so disappointed!

I def do not think it took away from our ceremony at all, I was still super excited and emotional to walk down the aisle

I set up our first look to be more like walking down the aisle

I know some girls walk up to their FH and tap them on the shoulder, but i felt like that loses something bc he doesnt get to see the full look

so we set it up more like an 'aisle'

I walked towards him on the grass and when i got about half way towards him, he turned around and I continued walking towards him...this way FH, now DH was able to see the full look and I got the feeling of walking down an 'aisle'
hope that makes sense

i dont have pro pics yet so here are some not great quality pics of our 1st look

Re: First look pics

We did our first look at my parents house, I was getting ready there with the girls. The limo picked up the boys and then came to my parents house. We then had about 2 hours, we took photos at Port Jefferson and at a beach. We thought we would be able to enjoy cocktail hour but we had more pictures with extended family at the hall. Our ceremony was also at the RH. If you don't mind seeing each other before the ceremony I definitely recommend it!

Re: First look pics

It was important for me not to see my husband before the ceremony and I don't regret it one bit. We missed CH to take photos but the Westbury Manor set up a private CH for us to eat in the gardens and it was so nice. I have seen it done both ways and I think it just depends on which is right for you!

Re: First look pics

I always imagined my FH not seeing me until I walked down the aisle to him. But we have now decided to do a first view.

We decided this because the wedding day will fly by so fast we want to take every min to enjoy it and therefore don't want to miss our CH. Also, I don't want to be rushed trying to cram all our picture taking into 1 hour. Also, with the time of year we are getting married (Oct) the sun sets at 6:30pm and our ceremony as of now is at 7pm. If we waited til after we saw each other we'd get no pix in the sunlight. So we pretty much HAVE to see each other before.

It was hard decision at 1st but I have now made peace with it and I really don't think it will take away from the moment of me actually walking down the aisle. FH feels the same way. He says no matter if he sees me before, he knows the feeling of me walking down the aisle to him won't be changed. I also feel the same way.

Re: First look pics

I'm doing it as well. I want to have the quality pictures and have time to enjoy it, some of which will be off-site. I'm also getting married at the same place the RH is, so it just makes sense for us. you can make it fun and special...also, i think its going to be meaningful walking down the aisle regardless.

I never thought of the walk down the aisle like that on the grass. Love it though!
