First Major Vendor Issue

First Major Vendor Issue

Ok so I made a call to book my DJ and I can not even express how rude the owner was that I actaully had to hang out on her - Basically getting mad at me about what was aggreed too and discussed at the showcase.

So basically telling me the owner and MC at showcase didn't know waht they were talking about..

I am so disgusted and jsut can't believe how that was handled

That's just awful. I'd hang up on them too!
I always wonder about what these people tell you when you go to the show cases. I think they will try to sell/tell you anything to get you to make an appointment with them.

If they won't put their price/offer in writing with their name I don't bother taking it seriously.

That s*cks but...at least you didn't lose any money Better to find out early on before your wedding about which vendors not to use!!!

My cake vendor TRIED to do something similar to me.

I made an appointment on my own (without FH) to see cake designs. My intention was to set aside 3 designs and FH would come the following week to pick the final one. She quoted me $4 per slice. I asked her to write it down on the printout of the cake so I could remember. I made sure it was in her HER writing.

Fast forward to the following week. She quotes me $5 per slice for the same cake. I take out my printout and show her her own handwriting. She gives me this annoyed look but in the end we get the cake for $4 per slice.

If it's not in writing, it doesn't mean a thing to a vendor.

So True and you know what I had doubts when they said I couldn't see any footage of any of their MC/Dj's because they don't habve any - I was like really that is weird - But decided to take a chance anyway - But maybe everything happens for a reason

You said it. But even they they will try to get more $$ out of you if they think they can.

I had a similar situation wth CLM.
When FH & I went to look at the hall we loved it. We were qouted $75/pp for the sunday night we wanted. So we decided to book their next food tasting to see what we thought. The food was fantastic and even won my mom & her boyfriend over (who are both tough food critics).
So we sat down with the same BM again, I was ready to book. I brought out my copy of what I was qouted and he goes 'Great. So that's for Sunday afternoon you two were interested in?'
I never mentioned the word 'afternoon' once, I'm not looking for an afternoon wedding. Of course my paper just has the date with the /pp. Doesn't specify night or day.
I told him that we discussed a wedding at night and he tells me he would never qoute that low of a price for the day we asked. As a matter of fact for that say our price jumped from the $75/pp I was qouted for the afternoon to $90/pp for the night wedding. And they would not budge on that price nor throw anything extra for me to seal the deal ( I was ready to leave CASH deposit that night too).
I decided to walk out.

I learned my lesson and I make sure all my qoutes given have 'Evening Wedding' written on them.

Unbelievable - So you are not getting married at CLM - We had some minor issues with VYC in the begining as well but decided to still book with them just made sure everything was in my contract ..

I was really hoping to book them, but that whole thing just really rubbed me the wrong way. I mean come on.. .I was there, FH & his sister were there when we first went to the place and was given the qoute for the sunday NIGHT. I just felt it he only said the one pricet to get us to come back to reel us in at the tasting. As good as the food & as beautiful as the place was... it just left a bad taste in my mouth.

VYC is beautiful though! I was there for two weddings when it was John Anthony's. Weather permitting you'll have the most beautiful sunset!

I think that is exactly what the cake lady did! She quoted me $4/slice to get me to come back since she knew I wasn't going to sign a contract that day.

I know exactly who you are talking about, I spoke to her last night and she was completely unprofessional and changed everything the owner told me at the showcase. I did not feel like I was on the phone with a business at all. She told me she would send me a new proposal by email last night but I didn't get it until 2pm today. She definitely helped us in making our decision to go with Tommy Tunes and we are happy we did.

that's such crap that you guys had to deal with all this. So far, i haven't had any problems with my Vendors. The hall I booked has an amazing owner who really worked with me. In fact, he gave me a Saturday night reception for the lower price of Sunday, just because he didn't have the day available when I had wanted. This guy REALLY works with people and their budgets. I hope he stays so cool. lol. Would hate to experience any sudden problems with this place.
