First Meltdown! Way TOO soon!

Hi Everyone-
I needed to jump on this board and vent!!
So today it hit me that our church is in Queens and if we decide to have the reception at Flowerfield that is quite a drive...so I started stressing ALREADY about the fact that we will have to get married early to have enough time for pictures, allow for traffic, things like that...so needless to say I will probably be getting up at the crack of dawn the morning of my wedding..

I know I should not be stressing about this already and I am sure it will all work out but I got really upset about it, I think its one of those days...I just don't want to spend my wedding day worried that we wont have enough time and rushing around...

Sorry to vent, thanks for listening

Did you think about getting married at Flowerfield? My friend was married there and it was BEAUTIFUL!!!

Great idea about getting married there but we both really want to get married in a church and since FH has been invovled in his church a lot more than myself or my family we thought it was appropriate since he wanted to be married in his parish.
I am sure it will all work out and when I was talking to my mom she reminded me how many brides go through probabaly this exact dilemma....

Well If it makes you feel any better, Im getting married at 2 (Staten Island) and have to be in Long Island at 6 for my reception. Talk about rushing! With traffic on the belt pkway on a summer Sat, its going to be tight!

Oh my gosh not to make you feel worse but I know the Belt Parkway and boy oh boy...that does make me feel better knowing you are going through a similiar feeling as me...
so can I ask you are getting married at 2, what time are you doing pictures and are you taking them in LI?

Do you find yourself stressing about what time you will have to get up on your wedding day and how long it will take you to get ready and dressed?

I'm sure everything will work out on the day of. I'm getting married in Queens too (at 6:30pm)... and cocktail hour is starting at 8pm in Roslyn. I know I won't be making it to the cocktail hr. We'll be lucky if we get there by the time it's over since we have to stop by the church reception for all of our parent's friends. It's scary considering traffic and other things that could happen but remember that it's your day and the real celebration won't start until you get there.

Since I'm getting married in the evening, I have time before to take pictures... but just something for you to consider... I know a lot of brides who take prewedding pictures on another day. I'm not sure if this is a Korean thing or not but my sister and my brother both had a different prewedding shot day. That way, on the day of, they had less things to worry about. They also had time to have the dress cleaned before the wedding day.

Don't stress over what you can't control.

Although I understand the feeling. I stressed so much about the distance. My church is at 3:15 in Williston Park and the cocktail is at 7pm and hour away (time from mapquest). That only leaves us an hour for pictures since FH and I are determined to make our CH. I worry about it still but we booked the place anyway. We will make it work.

Everything will go wonderfully.

Try and relax. I wouldn't stress about it.

Don't worry about it. your photographers will fit it in. You can always be fashionably late to your CH, let everyone get food and get settled before you do a meet & greet. If you're determined to be at the CH, you might not have to do a receiving line. I'm going to do a receiving line and I won't go to the CH. I don't want to go until we're announced in the ballroom, probably.

I went to one wedding where the church was in western brooklyn at 4pm and the reception was in the bronx at 7pm..and even with traffic we all made it, and the bride was at the CH, but I know she had taken some pics before the ceremony

Do not worry! We are in the same situation with the reception hall being 50 minutes form the church! Our ceremony is at 3 and our cocktail hour starts at 6:30. There are beautiful places to tkae pictues at Flowerfield. Maybe consider taking them there to ease your mind!

Don't worry it will all work out, you're going to be up early the day of the wedding anyways....we have a 45 mins drive out to Flowerfields also, but we both know it's well worth the drive smile!!

I wouldn't worry about having to get up early, you'll prob be too excited to sleep much anyway!! I'm having my ceremony at 5pm at the RH, but I'll prob still be up at the crack of dawn starting to get ready!
