FH is soooo nervous he's going to start talking about sex tonight, at our first meeting.
We don't go to church at all - I totally believe in my religion, however, I totally DISAGREE with the politics.
Lets face it - Not a virgin Don't attend mass
Should I just get all red-faced and uncomfortable NOW- to practice for tonight?!?!?
Please help!!!! How did you TELL the priest that you're, ahem, 'active', etc.?

When we met with our priest he did not discuss our 'extracurricular activities' at all. all he did was ask us whether we wanted a full mass or ceremony and then explained the details about each. he told us what documents we need, pre-cana etc. but never once did he ask us any personal questions...i think that happens during pre-cana. so don't worry about anything it will go smoothly tonight

Oh goodness now you got me worried. FH is catholic, I'm christian Orthodox. I'm not religious, he is more than I am, but not overly. I can't get married in his church without signing that our children will be raised catholic. We decided we'd just choose an interfaith church near Fox Hollow. I am still a virgin, FH is not though, ugh I didn't even think that they would bring that up at the first meeting.

I maet with the Deacon...he absolutely did NOT even mention sex, church attendance, or anything like that.
We mostly talked about church logistics, pre-cana, and forms to fill out.

he basically went over our backgrounds, asked us a few simple questions about love and marriage and that was about it, very harmless

Your stressing yourself out!! We met w/the priest back in November and he interviewed us both separately but didn't ask any crazy questions - just things like if we plan to have children and raise them as Catholics, have we been married before, etc.
He only asked us if we wanted a full mass and we just gave our details as far as names, parents names, etc.
Don't worry, it will go fine.
We actually have our second mtg w/the priest on Monday and I'm so not nervous about it because our first meeting was so laid back.

We met with the deacon who did NOT discuss sex.. they did give us a questionaire asking if we were ever married before and if we were doing it whole heartedly, the normal questions.. you just yes them to death and call it a day.. he went over pre-cana and the time and type of mass we wanted.. you will be fine.. I promise!! Good Luck

We did not discuss sex either.
They ask if you are a parishoner, in my case I'm not but my parents are (so I said I was).
They separated us as well and asked our names and whether we are doing this willingly and if we'd raise the children Catholic.
One other thing, I know you have your venue picked out, some churches get a little upset to find out you didn't go to them first.

When we met with the priest it was very simple, he took down simple information from us, asked us what dates we were interested in, asked for our baptismal certificates adn handed us a book on how to plan the ceremony and a pamphlet on pre-cana, very simple 30 minute meeting, no scary questions, didn't ask about church attendance (even though we go basically every week) or any personal questions. Its nothing to be stressed about at all. When you leave I bet you'll be like that was what i was worried about...

Usually the first meeting is just for them to get a feel for you guys and answer any questions-specifics come much later on-

omg, i hated our meeting!! we had to describe each other, and describe each others families. then he did talk about sex and sexuality, but he didnt ask US questions about it. he just talked about it. and asked me if i was pregnant, and different questions. then we had to take a long test that they go over at pre-cana. i think every priest is different, so it really depends. but we were there for a good 2 hours.

it wasnt bad, we were cracking up the whole time. it was funny. and when he had to describe me, i was like awwwwwwww. its a little embarassing because the priest sits there and listens, but its not so bad. then he left us in the room to take the test, it was like fill in the bubble like 4th grade. and we ' werent supposed to cheat' but we sooo did. it was funny. nothing to worry about at all. just annoying!

Just FYI.... They ask those questions so they can make the ceremony more intimate and personal for you, the priest wants to get to know you for the homily section at your own wedding, so remember your answers will come back to you at your wedding!

i know why they ask those questions, but we still had fun with it. we figured because he asked us where our first date was, and how we met and stuff like that. so i knew he was going to use it at the mass.
