First official meltdown..Am I overreacting?***UPDATE***

I also posted this on Brides Helping Brides ...wonder if anyone here has an opinion...

So when my mom came to visit in December we decided to go look at wedding gowns. I just so happened to find one I loved and we decided to order it. We let the salon know that since the wedding was so far off, and I had no where to store the dress we'd like the order 'held' until it got a little closer to the date. Leaving of course time for it to be shipped to the store, altered and shipped to my mom in NY. We were assured that this wasnt a problem, in fact the designer will look at the date and make those in need first. Cool! Done deal.
Today I get the call that the dress is in and I have 14 days to come pick it up and start alterations. ***?? I called the salon and of course the Manager who knew about my 'special needs' wasnt there but would be tomorrow. Well I have to work tomorrow so I let them know that my mom would contact her. Need less to say once I told my mom what happened, she called.
Long story short-the dress has been discontinued so they just went ahead and made it. The salon said they dont normally notify clients when their dress is being discontinued. Ok, fine but mine was a bit of a different situation. And where was my bridal consultant who was oh so fabulous at the time of purchase???? For insurance purposes they can only store the dress for 90 days and I dont necessarily want my gown 'hanging out' anywhere for about a year. JMO.
The Manager is supposed to call my mom tomorrow. Mom is going to see what my options are. Maybe have them pay for the 3x the dress would be shipped? Maybe use the deposit for a different dress? I love my dress but Im sure there are many others I could love.
Im just so frustrated and kinda sad..............

Thanks for letting me vent. Hopefully it will all get worked out.

**UPDATE***
Spoke with the manager today and she said since the designer is overseas there is no communication if a dress gets continued. What?? There are phones overseas as well as computers!! We are going to speak on the 15th and see what we can work out. The whole thing has kind of turned me off from the dress and dealing with them. My wonderful parents said that if I am not comfortable dealing with them and I am not happy they are willing to lose the deposit and let me get something else.

Oh my god the first time we walked in davids bridal I almost had a panic attack

I made the mistake of going on a Sunday afternoon during a $99 sale

thank god I went with my moh the day after easter
I think we found my daughters flowergirl dress and I tried on the matching gown my moh loved it!!!!

She wants me to get it she absolutely loved it on me
now I need to make up my mind between white or ivory...
I think I'm leaning more towards ivory though

you are not overreacting!! I would be very mad they didnt even tell you they were ordering it! I mean it was nice that they did before it was discontinued but since you told them the issue they should have called you!!

I don't think you are overreacting at all!! That was my issue. I told the Bridal Shop that I didn't want to store it, so they claim that they will store it. I Made them aware of my situation as well, so we will see what happens when it comes in. I think you should talk to them and see if maybe they will hold it for you even though it is against their insurance policy. You might have to sign a waiver of some sort though. Good luck with everything.

You are not overreacting at all . . . that wasn't right for them not to contact you. This isn't a minor investment, it's the most expensive item of clothing you'll ever buy for the most important day of your life, and they need to pamper the purchaser and meet her needs!
