First piece of Invite Drama

First piece of Invite Drama

So invites were mailed on Sat., and most people got them yesterday or today. FH's cousin messages him on FB wanting to know if she can bring the guy she's 'dating' for like a hot second.FH handled it very well saying that it's just not in the cards and we've had to cut down on our list, etc. She mailed him back annoyed - I understand you're upset, but you're going to be surrounded by family. It's not like she won't know anyone there. She pulled the same crap at the e-party.

Sometimes I want to tell people to grow up!!

Yeah, if it's their family they can suck it up.

I had to cut my list to the bare minimum so I just couldn't give everyone a guest!

we had the same thing with one of FH's friends...but to make matters worse FH felt bad bc he is in the bridal party so he said he could bring someone. we had assumed (we all know what happens when you assume) he would bring his on again-off again gf of 7 years. NOPE when we said he could bring someone he said great i have 2 people in mind

good for you for not caving! FH now knows he better not tell anyone else its ok to bring a date!

I didn't even invite FSIL with a date - I know that sounds mean, but she isn't dating anyone, and I certainly don't want some random at the wedding when she knows most of the people there.

His cousin - 'doesn't feel comfortable' attending family events because she feels that she'll be 'alone'. She called my FMIL to see if she was coming to my shower b/c if my FMIL wasn't going she would be declining too - talk about being co-dependant.

Re: First piece of Invite Drama

Personally I think adults should be invited with a guest. That being said there was one guy I did not invite with a guest. His wife passed away last year and was like my second mom. So I felt weird having some strange lady with him at my wedding when she was supposed to be there! She was at my engagement party for gods sake! Well needless to say, he is bringing a date. His daughter, one of my BM's, asked for him. She explained that its hard for him to ho to things that his wife should have been at. So a date keeps him preoccupied. I'm okay with it when explained to me in that way.
