First question as BOTW.....

First question as BOTW.....

This is a spin off on CloudNine's question she posted a few weeks back ' What sacrifices are you making?'

My question is: What do you think is the hardest/will be the hardest sacrifice you and your FI will be making for the wedding?

Not being able to live together yet...

Both of us still live at home because neither of us can afford to move out. We're sucking it up for a little longer now to save for the wedding.

Also, once we do live together, we'll most lkely have to rent rather than buy, which isn't ideal, but thats what you get for living in New York!

the hardest sacrifice is not getting things that i always dreamed of having because of money issues...this whole money thing is proving to be a problem...

Same here!! I still live at home and he is moving back w/ his dad after this month (currently he rents a place w/ a roommate) to try and save up as much as we can for the wedding, and to have some money left over to TRY and buy a house.

Also i really have cut back on the shopping, usually when spring hits i'm out at the stores seeing what I can buy thats cute for the summer but i will probably just be wearing what I already have.

I already got my first bill from my RH in the mail... eek.

For me its shopping less, for FH its not getting to buy another race car-which he really wanted to do this year

For us also not living together, but this doesn't really help us save that much money because eventhough we both live with our parents we both pay rent, not much savings to that

Totally weird, because I was gonna write less shopping and FH can't buy a new race car! We are trying so hard to save money but its hard.

Living together is great, but we spend a lot of money on rent, sometimes I wish we still lived at home because we would have so much extra money.

We are thinking about moving in together...I would move in with him to try to save money...We both pay rent at home so it wouldnt really be much of a savings...but I dont think that we are going to be able to go on vacation next summer...We have to cut back on going out to dinner and stop the shopping!

probably eating out less, and going to medieval events less. The cost of gas for an SUV is getting ridiculous. $50 to fill up my tank, lasted 3 days before we had to get more

Re: First question as BOTW.....

I will agree with most of you cutting back on shopping, eatting out & ordering lol. We live together & thankfully we live in a great area & our rent is actually pretty reasonable for the area we live in.

We get lazy & do not cook often so I feel if we started to cook more we would save a bit more.

We started our wedding savings fund lol. which has helped alot. we actually changed our direct deposit so that a set amount goes straight into our savings account automatically when we get paid & the rest of our paycheck just goes into our personal accounts. It was hard at first to see a lower amount go into my checking but the money is growing & we do not touch it unless we need $$ for a down payment on a vendor.

FH & I are actually in an argument b/c he wants to buy something even if it's just a co-op or condo for now to start gaining equity & I feel we do not pay alot for rent & it would be ideal to stick it out & buy after the wedding. I here where he is coming from but I feel that we are paying for this wedding our selfs & so far it has not been too stressful. I think with extra payments on property right now will make things really tight.

To the ladies who do not live with your FH I know you are saving by living at home but you really do not know a person until you live with them.

The direct deposit idea is GREAT!- I will haev to look into that. We have a wedding fund as well, but I think doing direct deposit and having a certain amount of $ go into the wedding fund would really help.

I don't live with FH, but I agree you don't know someone until you live with them. Unfortunately we'er not living together now because I'm still in school for my Masters and do not work full time. We are saving money & hopefully living together soon!! I have gotten a taste of living with him though. I have been spent weeks at a time at his house with him, and I'm used to his messes and lack of cleaning up after himself and whatnot. We've also been on vacation for 2 weeks at a time. I definatly think thats NOT the same as living together full time, but I'm glad to know I've gotten a taste of what its like before we move in together full time. Since I don't pay rent and dont make much $ (I pay more for school than I make in fact), living at home is the only real option
