Annalise is 13 months old and I knew it would have to happen sometime. She has had teething fevers and reflux, but nothing major. She has had a cough for 4 weeks that finally got 'productive' this week. She has been waking herself up nightly with the cough and had a fever Tues. night. Last night she vomited 2x because she choked on her own phlegm (sorry if TMI). I took her off milk (phlegm producer) and she still got worse today. She was very cranky, slept alot and pulled on her ear tonight. After gagging on her dinner and finally throwing up again, I went with my mommy instinct and took her to the ER. She was not herself today and I did not want her in pain until the dr. opens tomorrow morning. She has an ear infection, bronchiolitis and needed a breathing treatment. She got an antibiotic and albuterol that I have to give her with an attachment for toddlers. On Sunday we follow up with the ped. Moms- go with your instinct. You know your child best. Good Sam has a pediatric ER that moves pretty fast in case anyone ever needs. It was not so bad and we were home by 11:30. She is sleeping and I am unwinding.

I agree w/ going w/ your motherly instinct!! As my mother used to say 'I'd rather take you to the doctor to find out it's nothing then not take you & it gets worse!'

Re: First 'real' sickness
well Victoria congratulations on handling a major milestone for Mommy! It sounds like you handled this like a champ! and now you know how to take the baby to the ER, and trust your gut!
I hope she is feeling better. Yes it had to happen eventually, but I am sure that doesn't make it any easier to watch her feeling so awful....
Let us know how she's doing and pat yourself on the back for being a wonderful, observant and protective mommy!

Re: First 'real' sickness
Thanks for all the well wishes. Her cough still sound terrible, but it is not frequent. She has been napping well which is another reason I know she is still not 100%. We are finally getting out of the house today to watch the Superbowl at BIL's house. She has a followup with the ped. tomorrow. I hope we can stop the albuterol after that.
