First Time Home buying

Soo FH and I are starting to think about buying our first house!
Problem is-we don't know where to start.
We are thinking if we qualify we would like to try to get an FHA mortgage.

Soo how do we start getting in the homebuying process?

Get a realtor...they are a big help and the seller pays them not you.

also start researching online for towns u'd like to move into, and their schools. We haven't bought a house yet, but that's our next project after the wedding, and I'm already looking into towns

I would figure out how much you can afford for a down payment and monthly payment so you can set up a budget. Then I would meet with a realtor so you can see places that fit that budget.

Also, research the towns you want and can afford to live in.

HTH!

I would research which mortgage company to work with. Check your bank too.
Before doing all that, make sure you get your credit in check. Make sure it's as high as you can get it.
The bank will run your credit and give you a score. It's a lot of work, and make sure you both agree on what type of house you want.

Re: First Time Home buying

We actually are going through the same process. You will get an application from your mortgage lender and will need at least two years of past W2 forms, last 2 pay checks, and all bank statements for the last 2 months, if you are printing the statements online make sure that they have your name on them and not just the last four digits of the account because they will not be valid since they cannot prove that it is your account. Your credit score will be run and they will calculate a debt to income ratio. It helps to know what town you want to buy in, for tax purposes, also the term of the loan that you want to qualify for, and the purchase price of the house. Also if you have any debt car loans, student loans, etc you will need to know how much left you have to pay and how long it is going to take you to pay it off.
