First Time Trying on Dresses! What an experience!!!

What an experience. All of the wedding planning books say never go bridal gown shopping on the weekends because the stores are packed. Well, they should also include don't go after work because not only are the stores super crowded but everyone is tired and cranky from working all day!
(Maybe David's Bridal gets more crowded than other stores - what a disappointment that store was let me tell you!)

Another thing the planning books don't tell you is how HEAVY the dresses are. I mean, I'm gonna have to start lifting weights just to be able to walk around in the darn things. Seriously, your supposed to get in and out of a limo, walk up a long aisle and then go to a party and dance in one of these numbers...I don't think so!!

Corset bras...whomever invented these things should be strung up by their toes from the tallest tree, covered in honey and have bears let loose to teach this person a lesson. Dear God!!! I couldn't breath and when I finally took it off my sides looked like they were going to be permanently indented!

Sorry for the long rant but I am honestly surprised at how different dress shopping is than how I pictured it would be. I can tell its gonna take a while for me to find a dress.

I agree with you on all counts!
I am having cups sewn in...i HATE those bras. I could never be comfortable in them, and yes my dress weighs a ton too. I told FH how heavy it is

Re: First Time Trying on Dresses! What an experience!!!

MY SENTIMENTS EXACTLY!!!!

When i went for the first time trying on dresses.. i came home ranting the same thing..

Davids bridal is the pits..

Dresses are made out of cast iron, and no wonder you need someone to walk you down the aisle.... you can't hold yourself up... forgot about breathing in the corset.. its not going to happen..

my suggestion, go to a better bridal place, sure you will pay a bit more, but the service is usually better, and the sales people carry the dresses for you, and help you in and out of them...
GOOD LUCK!!! AND don't worry, the dress of your dreams is out there.. cast iron weight and all!!!!

I felt the same way, which is why I only went shopping twice. Luckily I found my dress after trying on about 6 or 7....

I feel the same way! Although, I found a great strapless bra made by Goddess.

I actually found my dress when I took a day off work. I went in the morning and the salon was empty

Re: First Time Trying on Dresses! What an experience!!!

I ACTUALLY HAD A WAY DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE, I WENT ONE NIGHT WITH MY FMIL AND FSIL AND TRIED ON A EVE OF MILADY DRESS THAT WAS A BIT PRICEY BUT ONCE I PUT IT ON I WALKED OUT OF THE ROOM AND STOOD ON THE PEDESTAL AND LOOKED IN THE MIRROR AND MY EYES BEGAN TO WELL UP.. IT WAS LIKE ALL THE YEARS THAT I HAVE SPENT DREAMING OF THIS DAY WAS ACTUALLY COMING TOGETHER..
BUT I DO HAVE TO AGREE WITH WHAT A PAIN IN THE A$$ EVERYTHING THAT YOU HAVE TO DO WITH THE DRESS, ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS THANK GOD MY FSIL WAS THERE OR ELSE I WOULD HAVE HAD A LOT OF PROBLEMS...
