First Time Visiting Venues

Hi, Everyone! I just got engaged last Saturday and already I'm excited to investigate different venues. Does anyone have advice for what to ask/be on the look out for when I start visiting places? Any and all tips would be appreciated--thanks!!! :)

Congrats!

First, never leave a deposit until you are 100% sure, it could be frustrating to get it back.

Second, find out if the venue has restrictions on certain vendors, they might only allow you to use their 'in house' ones.

Third, if you fall 'in love' with a place but the price is too high, consider having a daytime wedding.

Fourth, don't go by price quotes over the phone... usually they can be negotiated or you can ask them to throw something in.

Fifth, find out what the minimum guarantee is, sone places give lower prices if you guarantee a certain amount.

Happy planning

Re: First Time Visiting Venues

1) Make a list of the things that are most important for you in a venue.

2) Narrow it down. You can do a lot of research online that will save you a lot of time and energy. It's very exciting going to visit possible wedding venues but it can be very exhausting..especially when you can't find what your really looking for. All of Long Island's wedding venues have websites with pictures of the venues and menus and what they have to offer.

3) Negotiate. Do not let the venue sell you for their first dollar--get extras or the price lowered (or better, BOTH)!

4) HAVE FUN! This is for FH and you! Enjoy every second. Do not get caught up in planning! When it stops being fun--take a break!

Good luck!
