FI's aunt passed away

The wake is on Tuesday- we are going upstate where they live tomorrow for the day. Should I bring something? And should I bring it tomorrow or on Tuesday? Should I bring flowers or a fruit basket. I know a lot of the family's friends have hired a caterer for a few weeks so I don't think they need food.

when my uncle died, my bil's family (parents, etc) sent an arrangement to our family...I'm not sure how close your family is to FH and his family..

just know that it is VERY difficult to lose a sibling (as I saw with my mother...and even my father - who was an BIL)...they will need all of the emotional support they can get...

it may be difficult for FH as well...it makes you feel that your parents are mortal...and it is a very strange feeling

I'm so sorry for the loss. I think a flower arrangement would be appropriate and appreciated. You can have it sent directly to the funeral home, that will alleviate any awkwardness with you bringing it to their home and then transporting it to the funeral home.

I am so sorry. The most important and meaningful thing in my opinion is you guys being there. But I think a flower arrangement would be nice to give.

thanks for your support and ideas. our parents have gotten close since we got engaged- they will be going to the wake also. i think my parents are preparing a big fruit basket for the family (his mom said that would be appreciated).

since they are doing that, maybe i'll have a floral arrangement sent directly to the place as someone suggested.

FI seems to be bottling up his emotions- at least in front of me. he never tells me how he feels- i wish i could do more to help out though :-(

Edited to say-- just talked to FI's mom - they are going to start a garden in her memory so they'll need plants that can be planted outdoors.
