FISH CENTERPIECES

FISH CENTERPIECES

My fiance loves fish. I thought that if I could incorporate live fish in the centerpieces it would be fun. I'm probably crazy right?

Actually, my FI wants to do live goldfish w/ floating candles as the c-piece. We went to a wedding and this was their c-piece.

I am pretty much against it, because I think it very inhumane to the fish.

I've seen them with Japanese Fighting fish. It's cute.

I think it looks really cool but sometimes the fish die and floating dead fish with fish food and poop floating may not be too appetizing.

Maybe you could use fake fish??

Does anyone have any pictures of a centerpiece with fishies in them? Even fake ones?

One thing to consider: Who would care for the fish after the wedding? (Fighting fish and goldfish can live for years.)

When visiting reception halls, one hall told me a story how fighting fish were used as centerpieces (in vases with plants and such) and the guests actually tortured them!!! How can people be so cruel!?

Although they're beautiful, I don't think I could use fish as decorations.

My sister has a pond in her backyard but the thought of people torturing them, thats wrong.

I was to afew weddings with this. It looks cool, but at the end of the night, you are stuck with all of these bowls of fish. The weddings I went to, only two or three fish were taken home. Then they had 15-20 bowls of fish with no home. It was a big annoyance at the end of the reception. I am not raining on your idea, but it is something to think about.

I LOVE THE IDEA! GET REAL FISH. GOLDFISH DIE PRETTY QUICK ANYWAY. DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT.

I think that the fighting fish look better than gold fish. Just a thought though if you do decided to use the fish in the centerpieces, Would you serve fish at the reception?

I think it's pretty inhumane, for many of the reasons already listed:

Who will care for the fish afterwards?
What of the drunk, fools who think it's funny to torture the fish?

I think there are prettier, more creative ideas out there if you want to incorporate your FHs love for fish.

Re: FISH CENTERPIECES

Ive been to a wedding where they gave beta fish as a favor. Im sure you could do it a a centerpiece. Have a game where one person from each table gets to take the fish home.
I got these to pictures from this website.

They sell the fish from the website too.

I think it is a nice idea- I don't think people will torture the fish(yuck)

I also don;t think it is any more inhumane then having a fish tank as long as they are set up right.

You will have trouble getting rid of them though, people will not want to take them home.

Maybe you can work out an arrangement with a fish store? And they will take them back after? Just a thought.

Re: FISH CENTERPIECES

Maybe you could just have one fish bowl as decoration at the placecard table or something, so it won't disturb people that are not comfortable with it while they are eating & one bowl of fish is easier to give away than 20.

Maybe you could coordinate the bowl ( and gravelor wahtver you put in it)with the bowls for floating candles without fish for the centerpeices.

i have never heard of this idea, but I kind of like it! I like the idea of one centerpiece and than making sure one person form the table takes home the bowl.

Re: FISH CENTERPIECES

I like the idea of one bowl also - maybe on the placecard table or on your table so your FI can see that you were thinking about him and his love for fish! JMo - I think there will be too many problems with live fish of every table - pretty much what everyone is saying - drunk people, fish poop, people not wanting to take them home!!! Good luck!
