Fish Salad! (Italians??)

Those of you who make the fresh fish salad (with the pulpo) do you also add calamari??

What about shrimps?

I'm going to put celery, carrots, oil, vinegar, spices...

I've made it w/the calamari & shrimp. I just use the baby shrimp.

You can use crabmeat. I've had it like that and it's really good.

Don't think i've ever had it with shrimp...but I seem to remember peppers??? & olives??? Don't know, I might be making this all up!!!

It all varies from region to region. Make it with what you think should go into it.

Yes fish salad includes scunguli, shrimp, octopus and calamari and if you like add clams

I thought scunguli is octopus...and calamari is squid.

calamari is squid, scungli is conch I believe, & pulpo is octopus.

ok, scungili is Italian conch , which is really whelk, not that I know what that is.

My mom makes a killer fish salad..and she puts everything in it...calamari, baby shrimp, and, octupus...

I don't know more...I just know it tastes GOOD..I'm so bad..I should really learn from her..when are you making it?? I can call her tonight and ask....and fm you later..

my mother typically just makes scungilli with celery, red onion and a dressing w. olive oil & lemon

My mom uses shrimp, calamri, octopus & scungili- she dresses it with lemon, olive oil, parsley, garlic and salt and pepper. I LOVE it!

Had Pulpo salad from Iavarone Bros. the other day--Delicious!

In there was the octopus, celery, some fancy green looking leaves, lemon, garlic and oil.

Pulpo is Octupus
Calamari is Squid
Scungilli is Conch which kinda looks a bit on the squiggly side--has the texture of octopus though.

Just a tip: Octopus only takes minutes to cook--when in the boiling water too long and it gets rubbery.......I think you're supposed to dip it like 3 times....and Voila..when it turns purple and curls up.
