Fitness Check-in 9/26

morning ladies

for me today starts day 1...planning for the gym later, not sure what i'm going to do yet...maybe ease in on the elliptical or try for the treadmill...thinking of doing the couch to 5k plan (google it if your interested)...

on the last set of posts i saw some people were curious what to do to get their fruits and veggies in...i hated fruits and veggies also for a long time and im still not a huge fan, but i make myself do it because eating them really does help...

salads are a great way to get fruits and veggies in one sitting...i usually make a spinach leave salad, maybe some arugala and then add things like mandarins (as long as they are stored in water and not syrup), peaches, blueberries....or strawberries, blueberries, raspberries....add a little cheese like goat, some crushed almonds...and you have a salad with sooo many flavors you don't even need dressing...but if you need a little something...try a flavored vinegar...i have some at home like vanilla fig or dark chocolate or cherry...you can even mix them and create your own flavor...they have flavored oils too...

also, one way i started to get myself to eat apples...i used to hate them...especially the skin...so i started peeling them and eating them with a portioned out amount of peanut butter with some raisens...then i slowly took away the raisens, then the peanut butter and then voila i was eating apples...

one thing i learned was that on weight watchers fruits and veggies are zero points because rarely do they find that people OD on them...the only ones with points are canned ones packed in syrup and corn (because it's soo starchy)

ill check in later with gym update
good luck to everyone today...get moving..

I hope the weather holds up tonight so I can go a run, if not I pop in a workout video.

One tip I have is cut out starches and carbs with dinner. I use to always do the 25%/25%/50% rule (25% percent of your plate should be meat, 25% starch, 50% veggie)

Now, to get wedding ready, i've been cutting out the starch completely and and increasing my veggies. I figured out it cuts about 100-200 calories depending on the serving and type of starch. (that could be equivalent to running about 2.5 miles at a brisk pace!).

couch to 5k plan - my sister did this a while ago, it really helped jumpstart her exercising

today is my RESTART
i printed out a plan off the knot, and will 'check' off each day to keep track. i tried to start last week but i ran into some hiccups. it starts with 3x week 20 mins.

we made an exercise room (small) and i need to cancel my gym membership to free up some $ so i can do zumba 1x -2x a week.

as far as eating, i eat really well all day but a glass of wine at night sometimes turns into a glass of wine + chips+ sweets. or chips to sweets, etc w/o wine.... you know? That's where i need the most help!

Anyone have some weight watchers helps/ cheats? not sure if its worth joining?

Re: Fitness Check-in 9/26

ok so im pretty satisfied with my accomplishments today...

i walked the dog this morning for just shy of 1.5 miles...then i went to the gym and did 20 min on the treadmill (did 1.25 miles) and did another 13 min on the elliptical (1.25 miles)...then i came home and walked the dog again for another mile...total miles 4

GOD IM EXHAUSTED! the hardest part of getting back into exercise is DEF the fact that you have to start slow because man i think about what i used to be able to do and im like no where near that...

so far im on plan for points for food for the day...planning on a smart ones for dinner...making sure to get plenty of water...

what types of WW tips did you want? honestly, its not that they give you tips because you CAN eat anything...everything just has a point value so you learn what you can and can't eat if you want to have a balanced diet...

i really like to think that having gotten a dog really is what kick started this for me...he has a lot of energy and always wants to walk and go out...i think he pushes me! and its great QT with the dog especially when you're work all day

My only snack today was a sugar free pudding and my only carb was brown rice and oatmeal! I did 45 minutes on the incline machine today.
