Fitted or puffy dress?? - Long Island Weddings
I always thought I'd want something puffy but FH requested something a little sexy (but still classy!) so I ended up going with something fitted

Fitted or puffy dress?? - Long Island Weddings
I always pictured myself in a puffy dress, but when I tried on a puffy dress not only was I sweating to death, but I was totally lost in it. I looked like a cloud with a head. I ended up going with a fitted mermaid style dress that really accentuate my curves and petite frame.

Fitted or puffy dress?? - Long Island Weddings
Mine is mermaid, and i'm adding a tulle slip underneath so that the bottom poofs out more. I thought I wanted a poofy dress until I tried it on and it did NOTHING for my body. Both are great styles...so go with whatever you feel more confident in!

Fitted or puffy dress?? - Long Island Weddings
Mine is a mixture of the two - parts of the top are fitted and the bottom flares out a little but not too much. Definitely wouldn't consider it a ball gown nor would I want something like that for my wedding. I tried on a few and they just didn't do anything for me.

My theory is you get one day in your life to wear a big poofy dress and I am taking full advantage of that!!!

Fitted or puffy dress??
Mine is a trumpet style. I have large hips. The difference between my hips and waist is about 13' and I love to show off my hour glass shape. I tried on a ball gown and believe it or not it made my hips look so much bigger.

lolol saaaaaaaaaaaame. We shouldnt have to feel like we're getting a work out just walk around in the gown. I am leaning more towards the fit and flare with poof on the bottom more.

Okay so this is my take on the 'fitted' trend: I have a good figure and I tried on many fitted gowns that were pretty. However, I feel that they make everyone's hips look huge and it's just a trend. Although they make your stomachs look nice and flat, I feel like a size 00 looks like they have big hips in those dresses. I feel like that look is going to become the puffy sleeve trend of the 80s honestly. Just my opinion though.
I didn't get a super puffy dress either, it was more of like a lace dropped waist a-line gown with a beaded belt. It still has a fitted top, but it falls straight at my hips rather than being fitted around them. I thought that by getting a dress like that, I would still have the fitted-ness that is still on-trend and looks very pretty, while still wearing a classic gown that won't go out of style. I also feel like those super fitted gowns look like white evening gowns and not like wedding dresses sometimes
Claire I totally agree. I tried on a bunch of fitted dresses (fit and flare, mermaid) and honestly, my eyes went STRAIGHT to my hips.
