fitting

My first fitting is tonight, and I have everything with me, but I have a question - do I make all the funny moves tonight - hug, bend, turn etc, to make sure its comfy, or is that later?

Re: fitting

At my first fitting, my seamstress only pinned the dress lengthwise, not sideways... So she adjusted my shoulders and length of the dress. Then at the 2nd fitting, they 'basted' the dress, i.e. made rough stiching, but still they didn't cut anything. So at my 2nd fitting is when things that were not so comfy were corrected.

Also, they're not supposed to take your dress in at the side until the very last minute b/c supposedly you lose a big chunck of weight, etc in the last few weeks before the wedding.

How many fittings do you have to go to? Why not one fitting and be done? Thats what I want to do because my dress is in the city and I would hate to track back and forth for several fittings....is one fitting ok?

Re: fitting

I was expecting 2 fittings - one for the basics and another just in case -

Re: fitting

I'll probably have at least 5 fittings, b/c my dress requires a lot of alterations due to shortening of the train... I believe its common to have 3-4 fittings.

Edited to add that one fitting is definitely not enough. B/c if the rough alterations don't suit you well, then you can make changes still, but if you do final alterations, and the dress doesn't fit, then what?

Re: fitting

I am going to my 5th fitting next week..but I needed alot of alterations. This should be my last one.

Def see if you can move around!!! In my last fitting I realized I couldn't lift my arms above my head So it was good I tried it then.
