So I went to get my wedding dress fitted yesterday for my first fitting and when she was taking the dress off of me, she stabbed herself in the vein with a pin and BLED ALL OVER MY DRESS!!!!!!!!!
I was so shocked, I didn't know what to do! She said they could get it out, but what should I do? Call for confirmation? Ask for some money back? Any advice you have would be great! I'm still freaking out!
Edit - I put this below also, but the seamstress is totally fine. I'm sorry for leaving that part out before! We were both surprised by it and then after she got the bleeding to stop (which happened pretty quickly) we were both like - ACK! That was the dress!

Re: Fitting Disaster!
OMG! That sounds lke a nightmare, but I am sure it has happened to plenty of people. You should go back and see the dress when they have treated it (which I would think would be ASAP with blood, right)? If you are not 100% happy I would make that clear. That really is unacceptable and they should be held accountable. You are paying them a lot of $$$$. But is there time to reorder? I have a feeling that other brides on here have had that happen and will have good advice. Good luck

Re: Fitting Disaster!
OMG, I don't know what I would do.
I would ask them what happens if they can't get it out -- I hope it went to the cleaners IMMEDIATELY. Tell them you want to see it today to make sure all the stains are out.
If not, I would expect them to replace the dress IMMEDIATELY.
I'm so sorry. I hope it all works out fine!

Re: Fitting Disaster!
You definitely need to go look at the dress after it's treated. Blood is a nightmare to get out! That really is disastrous!!

OMG you need to address the situation immediately. What did she say after it happened?

Re: Fitting Disaster!
She didn't really say anything - I think everyone was so shocked at that point! She seemed to think they could get it out, but I want to call today to be sure (it was Saturday, they were closed for Easter). I just hardly even know what to say. *sigh*

Re: Fitting Disaster!
omg! What a terrible accident to have happen on your dress! I am so sorry. Hope the seamstress is OK. They should be able to get it out if it was taken care of quickly. Double check, triple check - go today - don't wait, don't take their word for it. I made so many silly mistakes with my STUPID bridal salon by not following up. Don't trust them to fix it - make sure of it. Go there in person.
Good luck!

Re: Fitting Disaster!
When my best friend was getting married during one of her fittings she noticed like a coffee stain in the middle of the front of her dress. She freaked on them. They did get it out. I know coffee and blood are 2 different things. I would call them today.i wouldn't let it wait to long before you call them.
Good luck let us know what they say to you.

Yeah - I didn't mean to seem heartless about her. She is totally ok. It was pretty worrisome for a moment, but she was able to stop the bleeding. It was only after the shock of that wore off that we were both like - THE DRESS!
Sadly, I just called and they are closed today. I'll have to call again on Tuesday. *sigh*

Re: Fitting Disaster!
Go there in person tomorrow - The dress should have been cleaned immediately, so they should have it there. If they don't have it or it's not 100% to your satisfaction, INSIST they replace the dress!

Re: Fitting Disaster!
will these places replace the dress if they ruin it? is there some sort of contract that they are not responsible? how's it work?

Re: Fitting Disaster!
Hey there - I just wanted to add that I had my first fitting (early I know - but dress is complicated) a few weeks ago and the same thing happened to me. She stuck herself trying to pin me and got blood on the back of my gown.
But she and the owner of the alterations company I'm using told me that blood is actually one of the easiest stains to get out of a dress and said it wouldn't be a problem. I followed up and it did come out. I wouldn't worry too much but def follow up to see if it came out!! Good luck!

Re: Fitting Disaster!
When I was getting my fittings, my seamstress also stabbed herself and got blood on the dress, it came out with no problem, it happens all the time. They have 'tricks' to get that stuff out. How did she manage to stab herself in the vein though? Was it a lot of blood? I wouldn't think too much blood would come out of a pinprick, but again don't worry, these seamstresses can work wonders!

Re: Fitting Disaster!
Thanks for the hopeful words, ladies! This was definitely more than a pinprick - it was like 3-4 large streaks down the side of the dress, each about 3 inches long or more. There was a lot of blood going on (gross). But, you have made me hopeful! They're closed today, but hopefully I can go see it and calm down later this week.
