ok this may be a dumb question, but are 2nd,. 3rd, 4th fittings something required when you buy a gown or just when you have the dress specifically crafted for your body?
I bought my gown at DB, picked it up in December and its sitting in my parent's house until wedding day. I try it on every month and it still fits.
What 'alterations' do I need other than attaching some buttons under the back of the gown to bustle it?
Am I missing something? Is there more I have to do here?

Does it 'fit like a glove?' Does it need a hem? If it's strapless, you need to be sure it's tight enough so you're not pulling it up all night.

OMG, have a look of my pictures - fittings and alterations are for sure necessary. AND the dress was custom ordered to my size! A 4 on top, 6 on the bottom with an ince of 'ease' through the hips. VERY specific, and I need alterations. I guess it depends on you and the dress!

They're necessary if your dress doesn't fit exactly right. Like, in my case, my dress was perfect in the waist but big on top, so I need alterations and a 2nd fitting.

Alot of DB's dresses fit so you dont need alterations. My BM's wedding dress fit perfectly and she needed no alterations. I'm losing weight so my alterations will be them taking it in. (hopefully)

aww cra**p. I didnt think of any of that..I just threw it on and made sure it covered me in the right spots. How on earth do I know if it fits me right? I can move and dance around in it - what else do I need to look at??? .I am prob walking around wearing the wrong bra size!
So where on earth do I get these alterations things done? I have to schlep that big freakin' white gown to a store and try it on there?? Can it be done all in like a Sat afternoon or do I have to leave the dress w/ someone???
What the F...? Dang, thats a real pain in the a***!

They do fiitings/alterations at DB and no you go in they make you try it on with the correct undergarments and shoes and then they will figure out what needs to be taken in. You leave it there, you come back once its done try it on again and make sure fit is perfect if not they repeat the above,

I suppose it depends. I am between two sizes, so I will definitely need a fitting. I am also 5'1', so almost 9 inches needs to be cut from the length.
If your dress fits perfectly, you are lucky and save yourself a few hundred dollars!!
