Someone want to recommend me a flat screen tv, and why?
I'm buying one for FH. No clue what I am looking for but want to keep it under $1,000.
Tell me what companies are good, anything.
ORRR if anyone has consumer reports and could tell me what a good one is, that would be appreciated as well!
Thank you!

Re: Flat Screen TV Recommendations
Honestly, I would go on Amazon and read some reviews. LG is pretty good and Sony is awesome but expensive.
See what's in your budget and what has good reviews on Amazon, look those TV's up on cNet.com for techie and layperson reviews, and then when you have it narrowed down to a couple, see if you can go to Best Buy or PCRichards to see the pictures on those TV's in person and compare them. THEN, when you find the best TV interms of review, picture and price, you can hunt down where to get it at the best price. When you know which model TV you want, shop for price at PCRichards, Best Buy, 6th Ave Electronics, Wal Mart, and Target. I've found Wal MArt and 6th Ave have great prices on stuff. PS, 6th ave has a store in Carle Place and sometimes the prices in store are cheaper than online. I saved $15 on my Dad's $100 cd player for his car about a month ago by going in the store instead of ordering online.
If I were shopping for a TV this is the path I would take. Good luck, that's a nice gift
ETA Samsung is good too.

I would recommend a Samsung 1080P LCD TV. I bought my tv last year and did alot of research and my brother helped me as he knows about these technological things. I LOVE THIS TV. It is like my prized possession.....LOL

Re: Flat Screen TV Recommendations
first... stay away from sharp!
second...get a plasma not and LCD..don't believe all the hype that LCDs are better- the real technology geeks will tell you that plasmas are much better and last longer
third...
go to BEST BUY...they dont make any commission and you will get the best information and advice....and THEN go to PC Richard and see who has the better deal
we just bought a 58 inch samsung for $1400 from pc richards...its a beast, its so big...you def dont need a 58 inch tho, we had a 42 and 46? before and we were perfectly happy...but the price was great on this TV
ok thats all for now! good luck!

go to pc richards or fifth ave electronics. you may be able to haggle. i LOve the LG but they are super expensive. we just got a Toshiba a few months ago and its really good. bring a guy with you though otherwise they will sell you crap.

Re: Flat Screen TV Recommendations
sorry to crash.... Definitely get a plasma. With an LCD you will never get a real 'black'. We had an LCD and I could tell the difference. The colors on plasmas are amazing. We have two samsungs. One is over three years old and no problems so far. You can get 'screen burn' with plasmas but samsungs come with built-in programs to run to clear it up. FH is obsessed with tvs.
