Which do you think is better? A flatware chest (box) or the draw liner thing with places for the flatware (material)?
I want one for christmas and my MIL recommends the liner but I would think the box would be better.
Any opinions? Thanks, Denise

Re: Flatware Chest
I like the box but its just a personal pref. I dont have a drawer to dedicate solely to my silver and felt it would be prone to scratching with other stuff in there.

Re: Flatware Chest
Funny story...
When we first moved into our house, I put my silverware box on the bottom shelf of the linen closet because that's where my mom kept hers, and I just assumed that's where it was *supposed* to be. When Patrick asked why the silver was in there, I told him exactly that.
One day my mom was visiting, and Patrick asked her why we were supposed to keep our silver in the linen closet. My mom thought it was a joke and responded 'I don't know... why?' Patrick then told her what I had told him, and my mom burst out in hysterrical laughter and said that *she* kept her silverware in the linen closet because she ran out of room in her china cabinet!
Boy, did I feel dumb... to make a long story short (too late, I know ), my silverware is now in the box in my china cabinet.

I have mine in the drawer with the slots that comes with the china closet. I returned the chest that I registered for.

Re: Flatware Chest
I originally wanted a flatware chest, but I personally think they take up too much space, so I will probably get the insert things for my flatware.

Jenn You are too cute! That story is sooo funny!
My flatware is in a chest in my pantry. Why, you ask? Because I don't own a china cabinet yet!

Re: Flatware Chest
The chest was also handy for setting the table on Thanksgiving. No searching for searving pieces etc.
