evening all~* has anyone been able to talk down the guarantee the RH has requested? FH and i went to go see RHs today and we found one we liked but i have concerns about meeting their required minimum. they said it must be at least 100, kids are counted separately and so are vendors.
right now our invite list is ~ 80 people and i really wouldn't feel comfortable guaranteeing more than 70-75 at the moment.
thoughts?

I went with who can work with me on mins. I had a min of 85 we invited 145 (our list grew big time) and 100 said yes but in the end 95 showed up.
I would really try to finalize your list before booking a RH (as close as possible) and if you really love the hall ask them if there is another date or time you can take in order to get the min lower.

I see your wedding date is in feb - any hall should be able to accommodate you, or lower the minimum for you, since its not 'wedding season'. My hall normally has a 150 min, and since it was the winter, we had to guarantee 125, but they said they would have lowered it if we needed to. Halls should be glad to be getting your business, esp in the off season.

we're going to see some more RHs so i can compare but we really do like this one so far. they said they must be at 100, if we decide we def like this one best, i hope they'll waive the min or lower the guarantee!

Some halls are more stirct then others. My original list was 255 so we said a min of 200...but then there was a falling out with a full family and the list went down to 180..and I was freaking! I wanted to change it down to 150, but the RH compormised and I got 175 as the min...so I may be paying a bit extra, but it's better then over-paying another 6k! Search areound to as many RHs as possible... you will def. be able to find one you lovwe that will accomodate you. BOL
