Re: Floral Quote Questions
Do you know what your budget is for flowers? Start with that.
Do you have ideas about what kind of CPs you want? Flowers? Candles? A combination of both? Neither? Do you want high CPs or low ones? Do you want a combination of each?
Know how many people there are in your BP going in there, so you know how many flowers you'll need for GM and for your BMs. Do you want a different bouquet for the MOH? Do you want a throw bouquet so you're not tossing your own?
Do you have ideas on what types of flowers you like? Colors? Do you want greenery in your bouquet as well as flowers?
Do you have mothers you want to wear corsages? Grandmothers? (We decided not to and just handed the women a single rose to carry and it was quite elegant.)
Don't feel pressured to agree to anything right away. Bring photos of things you like that you've cut out of magazines with you.
CPs can range anywhere from $30 - $250 each, so there's a huge disparity depending on what you want. If you see something you like but the price feels high, don't sign a contract, come back here with sample pics, and we'll all help you out with some more affordable ideas that will be comparable.
And, most of all -- HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't stress! Planning the wedding should be a lot of fun, and this is a fun step you're up to!

Re: Floral Quote Questions
OMG!!! LOL
I want low centerpieces, sort of simple.. nothing too crazy. I LOVE hydrangeas so I want them, but I've heard they are very expensive?
I have my own vases, a friend who just got married is GIVING me hers =) and candles =)
Do I want a throw bok?! I NEVER EVER thought of that!!!
Yes, to MOH having something different...
There are no grandparents =( I think I'd like for both of our Mom's (especially mine ;) to have a corsage...
My BM's dresses are alfred angelo teal... My invites are teal & cream with a little silverish bling to them? So I dont have a CLUE what goes with that lol.
Thank you SOOOO much for everything.. I'm going to print this and get to work on answering ALL of the questions prior to, lol. I dont really want roses, I want to try something different, but I also want color?

Re: Floral Quote Questions
Remember - you don't have to match your flowers to your invites! Nothing has to match your invites. That's up to you.
I'd definitely consider matching the BM dresses though lol. Well, not matching, but complementing them!
Bring pictures you've saved with you to the florist when you go in order to give them ideas of what you like and don't like. It's good that you don't know exactly what you want -- that's what they're there for!
You sound like you're in the perfect starting position for meeting with the florist! Have some ideas but not too many specific ideas. The florist will show you tons and tons of pictures and discuss options with you, so you will get an idea of their style and how it will fit with your own.
I can't really help with the different types of flowers or their costs since I just did roses at my wedding. But the florist will tell you. You want a florist who will work with your budget, not try to break it! Since you've already got vases (which is awesome, btw!) you should be able to save a considerable amount of money there. Bring a sample of what you have with you, or at least a picture.
The other thing to think about is what you're doing for flowers at your ceremony. My suggestion (honestly) is to go a little minimal -- do maybe two huge arrangements on either side of the alter / 'stage' area and then keep it light otherwise. Maybe do pew / chair bows instead of floral arrangements on the rows. If you have a flower girl, usually the florist will provide petals for her to throw, too. If you're considering petal cones (instead of bubbles or rice) to be thrown, those would also be something to discuss with the florist.
Glad to know I'm helping! Good luck with your meeting!
Remember that florists vary a great deal in prices, so your budget is key, and maybe getting quotes from a few people.
I'm helping a good friend who's getting married in October, and we're considering making her CPs ourselves (she's on a a VERY strict budget). So all she needs a florist for is the wedding party's bouquets!

Re: Floral Quote Questions
I have a color swatch of our dresses.. I was thinking of bringing that with me?
IF Flowers are too expensive I was going to do my own CP's... what are you doing for your friend?
