Floral Terrace

Has anyone looked at or booked the Floral Terrace?? Suppose to be going there Saturday to look. People have told us food is excellent...It is the same owners as the Sandcastle...Any input would be great

My brother got married at the Sandcastle in Feb 03 & it was beautiful! Everyone is still talking about it...The cocktail hour was amazing! They asked you if you wanted seconds too!

Floral Terrace was the 2nd place we looked. My cousin got married there when they first opened. It was really nice, we went when there was a wedding about to start so they offered us champagne and strawberries but it was noon so we didn't want any. When we went they only had two dates available for the whole year of 04 and we went in Aug of 03 so needless to say our date was booked but it was really really nice in there.

My first choice is the watermill but I have a feeling that my date is not going to be available anymore...When we first went there, they had 3 dates available. We are getting married March 06, so I am hoping they have dates available...You like it though?? Key points you like??

A co-worker went to wedding at Floral Terrace and said it was the best he ever went to. I checked it out but the minimum was too high for me.

Yup I liked it. Some of the things I liked were the dance floor, it was up high, but then again if you get people drunk it might not be good I could already see an accident happening. The ceremony area was so pretty I am trying to remember but I think there was a fountain in there somewhere. They give out popcorn and stuff when people leave which I thought was so cool. The only thing that I could think of that I didn't like about it was that each thing as in ceremony and reception is on different floors. But it is gorgeous...Good Luck

I am having my reception at Floral Terrace this October and am so happy about our choice. Me and FI loved the place, especially the Ballrom. It's beautiful and they are very accommodating. I love the fact that they only have one wedding at a time. The Bridal Suite is huge! it's one whole floor.
We had also looked at Jericho Terrace and it was between the two, but Floral Terrace was 'the one'
They are the same owners of Sandcastle and I have heard nothing but great things of both of them, especially the food.
If you have any other questions, please let me know.

Good Luck!

You say you are getting married in October...Friday or saturday??? What was your minimum?? One of my co-workers just went to a wedding over the weekend there & he said it was wonderful! I want to make a final decision by the weekend...So many halls but now I am getting so particular! I know there is no parking facility though, right???

Re: Floral Terrace

We checked out Floral Terrace, I thought the room was beautiful, but decided to go elsewhere due to the fact they didn't have any gardens for pictures. The great thing about it is they only do 1 event at a time & the place is huge. It use to be a movie theater and before you go into the ballroom the lobby has a movie theater lobby feel. It's really cool. The one thing I didn't like about it was how their cocktail room looked, it's very plain, but then again, the food is so good there nobody will really pay much attention to that.
The minumum for a Sunday night in May was 150, it should probably be about the same for a Friday night.

Re: Floral Terrace

HI MAY152005, The garden part doesn't really matter to me...I will be getting married in March 06, so you never know with the wedding...I hear though the entire first floor is a garden room to take pictures! I think that is a nice idea...from what i have seen in pictures, it looks beautiful! My first choice as of now is the watermill! I absolutely fell in love with that place!

I just went to a wedding there over the weekend. There were some things I didn't like about it. I didn't like that every part of the wedding was on a seperate floor. Also they ran out of filet mignon for people who wanted seconds. I must say the desserts were good. FH enjoyed that.

Re: Floral Terrace

The first floor is called the 'garden room', but I personally did not like how it looked for pictures, it has a marble floor with potted plants strategically placed throughout. I much prefer their lobby over that room for the pics. It's more classy.

Re: Floral Terrace

Ok May152005 i will remember that...I guess you can really take pictures everywhere & anywhere considering you are the only bride there! I will see what FI thinks about it...We are rattling down to our last 2 places...Decision making is the hardest part!

Re: Floral Terrace

I grew up in that area and used to go to the old Floral movie theatre (which the floral terrace used to be) so I was upset when they closed it down - granted the movie theatre showed return of the jedi for an entire summer, so maybe it deserved to be closed down. Anyway, I was always curious to see what they did with it and I finally got my chance to check it out at a winter wedding I went to at the floral terrace. The food was really wonderful and the service I remember as being really great. They kept the old movie theatre ceiling and it's pretty amazing.

Re: Floral Terrace

I am having an afternoon reception and my min was 100.

I liked the idea of the seperate floors for each event. The garden room, is ok, I wasnt thrilled by the marble floor and plants, but I am not going to take much pics there, but the lobby is beautiful and has great opps for pics, also right outside the ballroom they have pretty chandiliers on the walls and murals sp?
to take some nice shots.
The cocktail room wasnt the selling point on me, but guests are in there a short part of the reception so when I saw the Ballroom and knew we would be in there, it was perfect.
I dont think the cocktail room is bad in any means, once everything is set up I'm sure it is real nice.
I would have liked an outdoor area, but then again it's Oct so we wouldnt be using it much. We plan on going over to the Garden City Hotel for pics as reccomended by FT for outdoor pics at their Gazebo if weather permits.
Also they have valet parking. The parking is underground. Its a garage under the building the size of the whole block.
I would have to say though for an all over feel, for me I really liked it. I like the fact that it was once an old silent picture mpvie theater, it gives it some charachter.
But everyone has their own tastes.

again, Good Luck!!
