Re: florist

I'm using Burtons and the price was very reasonable. You can FM me if you would like to know how much. I also heard that Jack and Rose, Flower Michele are reasonable also.

As for centerpieces I know it depends on if you want high or low. At Burtons it doesn't matter what type of flower you want.

Jack and Rose - Also, As for the date for Jack and Rose - Once you make an appt with Jack he holds your date for you till you meetings and then for another two days for you to make a decision - After that time then your date will open again...

Re: florist

We;re in the middle of working with florists and here are the things I've learned:

1) Make a list of all of the things that you want (e.g.: how many high centerpieces, how many low centerpieces, alter flowers or chuppah, # BM bouquets, #MOH bouquets, #corsages for moms/grandmothers, #boutineers, bathroom basket, flowers for serving trays during cocktail hour, flowers for stations during cocktail hour, any additional table flowers you want, decorations for cocktail tables, flowers for hair, flowers for aisle- can be centepieces put on different stands for ceremony, runner for ceremony, other flowers for ceremony). That's all i can think of now but there may be more that you want...

If you have a list, you can just run down what you need when you meet with the florist.

2) if you're on a serious budget and you only want to spend a specific amount- tell them what that range is and ask them what they can do for that price. Otherwise, they start off by asking you what you want and that can get you into trouble. If this isn't an issue for you, then skip it.

3) talk about what kinds of flowers you want. Some florists don't charge you for different flowers but some may- make sure to discuss this.

4) make sure to ask who will be at your site while they are setting the flowers up.

5) ask to see a sample if you want.

6) ask to see the bases that the flowers will go on. You should be able to pick any base you want for the same price.

We've found that tall centerpieces run anywhere from $100-$150. Low centerpieces can be less expensive but I have found that if you do 1/2 up and 1/2 down, the lows are almost as full as the highs so the cost is pretty similar.

We are limited to using only certain florists so I don't know the prices of some of the ones you mentioned. We're looking at Spitz & Peck and Colinial Florist.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

Re: florist

We saw a bunch at a showcase at the Townhouse and we were impressed with the people at the Flower Barn, Syosset. We went to see them for a more personalized consultation, and we booked that day. They have reasonable prices, have a very professional demeanor, and are willing to work with your ideas as well as their own. They are even going to incorporate the Siddur (prayer book) that my mother carried down the aisle in her bo-k into mine. Good luck. FM me if you need their info.
