Re: Florist
Definitely check other florists for prices. You may luck out and find someone who can do it for less and still do good work.

Re: Florist
if you consider using flowers other than roses, you may be able to get some better pricing search around - florist pricing varies ALOT!

i think everyday florists availability and pricing are more effected by peak seasons too - since they will have to make ALOT of arrangements for Mother's day/v-day (and can't just focus on the few weddings they have that week). I was worried about delivery/flowers staying fresh and if an 'everyday' florist could handle such a large project - so I went with a 'wedding florist'

Re: Florist
That is not true. Don't let them tell you that the flowers are more $$ that weekend. So you have to pay more. I am getting married on Mother's Day and 2 florists told me that and the 6 others didn't. So try and get other quotes from people.
FYI - Simply Stems was the best I saw. FM me if you want to know why.

Re: Florist
Im getting married 4 days after Valentines Day and was told that the price of roses would be through the roof. I was misled by a vendor here who tried to get me to change my wedding date just to save $500 on flowers. I thought it was presumptuous to assume I couldnt spring an extra $500 to have a look I wanted. After I told that to a couple of the florists I met, they told me it was BS and one of the florists even raises and flies in their own roses from South America. Be careful of who you talk to and do your shopping.

Re: Florist
Try John from Flower Michele - he was great at suggesting what was in season in the colors we wanted. Either way, shop around - from what I was tood the flowers are ordered two weeks ahead of time anyway, holidays shouldn't have that much of an affect. Also you can try to go with something seasonal instead of roses? Just an idea. There are so many good florists out there, just do a search on this board and you'll find what you need.
Good Luck!

NO WAY! Supply & Demand...Unfortunate but a reality!
The flower shop's distributors jack up their prices, and in turn the flower shop has to then place that on the consumer.
Happens with most of everything - ever notice how much the cosmetics/perfume counters increase right around Christmas???? I noticed it a few years ago, when I went to go 'refill' my everyday perfume. It was two weeks before Christmas, the bottle normally costs me $75, and they jacked up that same bottle to $105

They usually order your flowers for delivery a few days to a week before your wedding. SO that could affect prices. I like Goldi am getting married 4 day's after V-day, and I'm having ALL roses, and I really didn't feel the price was out of control.

I haven't the slightest clue...but from me being a PROCRASTINATOR....I can make the assumption that it takes a while for the prices to go down b/c there are always folks that come in after the actual day has passed b/c they forgot or just didn't do it.
