florist

hi ladies,

i'm usually on the 2011 boards, but was looking for some advice..

who should i use - flowers by brian or pedestals? my price quote was roughly the same for each, so i guess it comes down to who is the better florist.

any thoughts?

I'm using Pedestals....that was my personal preference. I clicked really well with Robert, and he was really easy to work with. Not to mention that everything in their showroom is just gorgeous.

I went with Flowers by Brian and our bo-k's were phenomenal. Our CP's were gorgeous too- we got sooo many compliments on them.

I vote pedestals as well. One of my BM used Pedestals and had major problems.

I had the same choice to make those were my two I was down to and they were roughly he same price I went flowers by brian b/c I heard some bad reviews about pedestals on here and fbb was willing to make me a sample centerpiece before I booked and signed a contract and pedestals told me I had to book first. fbb have been wonderful so far. hope I could help you

I think you should keep looking. While they both do good work, I dont think they give you the attention they deserve because they are so popular...thats def JMO, everyone has different experiences...

There are definitely a lot more florists out there. If you are willing to go to the Bronx, I wholeheartedly recommend westchester floral decorators...

Vito is amazing and super sweet!

I am going with a not so well known florist for this reason. I did the same for photography too. I was looking for someone who was willing to take the time and sit with me and understand what I was looking for. Pedestals did not do that at all. It almost seemed like he was just meeting with me because he had to. He had really no interest and basically rushed me out of there.

I'm going with Pedastals so I hope everything comes out the way I wanted but I've heard amazing things about Flowers by Gina. Have you checked her out?

Flowers by Gina!!!!!!!

She does amazing work! I picked her over Pedestals and Flowers by Brian because she is all about what you want and she goes above and beyond and is a doll to work with.

There are alot of vendors out there that are usually not as recognized but could be 2X better than the ones on here IMO...I say check everyone out before settling with a popular LIW Vendor just to make sure you are picking out the right one that suits your needs... I noticed that on here, the vendors get alot of reviews by us, but I found most of my vendors by venturing outside of the LIW world and they have been so great thus far to say the least.

HTH

Re: florist

thanks for all of the responses.

the problem is that i have to use one of the florists my reception hall recommends, which doesn't really leave me with many options. i did want to check out some other florists that weren't on this 'recommended' list, but i don't know if there's really a point since my reception hall will probably give me a problem.

Re: florist

We used FBB because they were a house vendor and gave us a decent deal. My flowers were beautiful, except for FH's boutineer which wasn't so fresh and I was a little irked about . Anyway, overall I think that they did a nice job. HTH!

in this case it could really go either way. their work level is the same so I would suggest going with whom ever you get a better vibe from!

jessica, thanks for responding!

i'm really surprised by this b/c i called pedestals today and they are making me a sample centerpiece before i book with them. flowers by brian is also making me a sample. i guess i'll just compare the 2 samples and decide which one i like better.

Oh thats great then when I went it was back in october and I asked Nadia and she said that unfortunatly they dont do that until you book they must have changed that then so thats great for you if both places are willing to do it I would totally have them and not only to compare but see who gives you more flowers for your money and more importantly who is willing to make changes for you to make you happy and who you are more comfortable with. I went to flowers by brian in howard beach across from my hall russos and met with joseph if your interested he was awesome.

Re: florist

I would ask them both to do a sample centerpiece and see who is more accommodating. It will set the tone for the entire wedding planning process. One of them will be better than the other, more creative or give you more flowers. Take pics!

i'm not working with nadia so maybe that's why my consultant is allowing this. thanks for the advice. i didn't even think of considering who gives me more flowers in my arrangements. i'll def keep an eye on that. do you know joseph's last name? when i went to flowers by brian, i met with a joseph also and i loved him. he was so nice and totally got the look i am going for.
