Florist & band vendor questions

We are meeting with a florist and three bands this weekend. What are some good questions to ask them? Do I need to put in the florist contract the flowers that I want now (I'm getting married in 2004 and not sure of my colors yet). Thanks!

Re: Florist & band vendor questions

When we met with the florist, I brought a swatch from the BM dresses so they could give me their ideas. They knew what colors would blend best & asked what type of bouquets I wanted. You could bring a few pictures from magazines on what you like.

Re: Florist & band vendor questions

You don't necessarily have to put the flowers in the contract yet. Most florists keep that open until closer to the date. Honestly, you do have quite a bit of time to 'go to contract' with a florist, so if you wanted to wait until you have a better idea, it wouldn't hurt you at all.

As for the band, make sure you ask how many breaks they take and for how long...AND how long they will actually play music. If the breaks are taped music, or live, how much for overtime they charge, and if they contract overtime for a discounted amount. A lot of bands/companies contradict themselves on these things in contracts, so read the fine print.

Re: Florist & band vendor questions

We did not sign any contract with the florist yet but we did give them the deposit... For our florist the first visit consisted of me meeting with the florist- ensuring I felt comfortable with them- looked through pics of what they had done, and placed pics in front of them to find out how much what I liked with run me approximately. About 4 months before the big day, they will come with me to the venue and discuss specific flowers in all bouquets, centerpieces, and colors. I did get a rough estimate and what that would include... but, most don't go into deep detail this weekend.

Re: Florist & band vendor questions

I am getting married in November and I still do not know my colors, but I booked the florist. The florist said to just let him know what color I select. I gave him the type of flowers that I would probably like.
