Florist Confusion (long)

Florist Confusion (long)

My church uses a specific florist for the church flowers, & my mother has used htis florist in the past, so I figured I'd jsut use them for everything & make my life easier.

The florist wasn't really talkative & it was difficult to get a discussion going.
But she was nice & somewhat hepful after a while.

The BMs flowers are undecided b/ c the dress color is up in the air, but I think they are going to be orange & peach roses. The dresses will be cranberry or latte.
My bouquet will ivory & light peach roses with stephanotitis & a little greenery.

The CPs will be an assortment in oranges & burgendy. I think mayebe she said peach also, but I think I am going to change that. I don't really know what they will look likw. She said they cost $65-$75 dolalrs or more if I wnat to spend more. What does that mean? What will they look like if I say I want to spend $125 on them?

I just feel like I didn't acheive what I wanted when I went in there. Its not set in stone, but I don't think it soudns fall enough. They aren't ofically orderd yet, she said come back when we have the dress --I don't know if that means ordered, or when I have a swatch.

So, nothing was signed, but I have a photocopy of her notes of what I wanted. So did I book the florist? I have no idea?
And the whole time she thoguht I meant Trinity Lutheran, when I meant Holy Trininty Episcopal ( both in Hicksville )

So all the info she gave me about church flowers was wrong. The Lutheran church has set things & they just make sure the colors are what you want, but as we were leaving when FH pointed out the mistake, she said, oh, now you can do what ever you want in the church.

What does that mean?
I've never been to a wedding there, I've just seen the Easter flowers.

And pew bows cost $12? $35 with flowers? Is that normal?

I dont know what to say. I wouldnt book them thats for sure! and that price for pew bows???? Flowers by brian charges $50 for I think 8 or 10 of them and thats with flowers.

So do you have to use them? If you don't then stay far away! If you do, I would negotiate for a lower price on the pew bows and make sure everything is very clearly spelled out.

if you have her notes but did not leave a deposit or sign a contract, you are not bound to use them...you should definitely look elsewhere (like the milleridge florist, they are awesome ), and go with where you felt more comfortable

I have to use them for the church.

I didn't want to have to use 2 florists.

I should probabaly price the Milleridge just to see.

But I am a major wimp & since she wrote it all down, I'd feel going back and saying, ok, now we just want church flowers.

Its a husband & wife team& my dad grew up across the street from teh husband, so he told me to play that up for a discount, but I didn't speak with him, I spoke with his wife & I'm not a schmoozer like that.

Here are what I remember from the prices:
$195 for my bouque t of rosses & stepahanotis
$165 for 2 dozen roses for Bms ( which I might change anyway)
$65 & up for mixed flower centerpieces
I think $10 bouts & $20 coursages.

You can definitley get a better price than that. It seems like alot for the bo-ks. You should keep looking, even if it means two florists.

My parents are giving us some money, so its not too much, I think we were at $2000, before the church, which sesm average, but we have a small wedding party.
only 2 bms.

I just don't know how to tell them we aren't using them.

Dont worry about it!! Im sure they are used to it. they are lucky they are getting your buisness for the church flowers!!!
If anything you can tell them you are having a relative make silk bok's for yourself and you are doing candle centerpieces for the reception b/c money is tight.

you can also just tell them that you havent made up your mind what you want to do about them and you want to leave your options open. Do the contract for the church flowers and tell them you'll let them know about the boks.

I am a little confused, but I think those prices are way to high - I am sure you can find cheaper. Post on the vendor boards and you can get a lot of quotes through FM. I also recommend that you talk to Laurie - LA Blossom - she is so creative!
