So should the Florist be suggesting different types of flowers, giving you ideas or am I supposed to go in knowing exactly what the centerpeices will look like and what flowers I want? I went to my first florist consult last week and besides books he gave us to look at, which didn't contain anything I particularly liked, he was like what do you want. He didn't suggest anything or what types of flowers to use. I told him my color scheme and I wanted roses in the bouquets. For the centerpeices, I was assuming I would use the same type but he didn't suggest anything. He was like I could use 3 dozen roses and put green inbetween. I also brought pictures and he walked over and said no, no I can't do either of these, they are 400 dollar centerpieces you are lookng at and above my budget. The price quote was good, but he wanted 100 for a sample centerpiece if I was't booking with him. Is this how all florists are?

Re: Florist Consulations
When we went to our florist, I went in with no real idea of what I wanted. We actually chose one of the samples they had on display as our centerpieces. We did look through a lot of books for my bo-k, the sales lady wanted to see what I liked. But there was no talk of paying for a sample. HTH. btw-we're using Flowers by Brian.

Re: Florist Consulations
IMO a good florist SHOULD make recommendations to you based on your color scheme and other flowers that might compliment flowers you like. They are the experts! They should also NOT charge you for a sample CP. I went to see Gina (Flowers and Designs by GIna) last week and she had a beautiful CP waiting for me at my appt based on pics i emailed to her of my ideas - free of charge before I booked her!

no thats not how it works. u tell them what u like and what u dont like, then u look thru some books and tell them what u would like to see for ur CP's and bok, then they make suggestions and come up with the idea for CP they should not charge for a sample. also its totally fine for the florist to tell u that based on ur budget the pic of a CP u brought is too pricey sounds a bit odd what happened at ur apptmnt. my advice keep looking for another florist

ITA with REgy, and if the CP pic you brought was too pricey, they definitely should make other suggestions.
