Florist help - what to ask

I am going to be going to the florist soon. What questions are you supposed to ask? I am not sure at all what I want for flowers - they are all pretty.
Any light on this topic would be great.
Right now I feel like all I have is to walk in there and say 'Hi I am a bride and need some flowers for my wedding day' For all the other vendors I had specific questions. help me out here.
oh and did your FH go with you? For example My dress has roses on it and I do not wnat him to know that.

My FH didn't go with me when I was scoping out florists...he came with me when we booked.

Go in with a budget, at the very least.

I went in with a folder of attire - my dress, what I thought the BMs were going to be wearing...and a folder of BO-K & CP ideas that I had clipped, that really caught my eye. (But I'm anal like that )
