Is it the norm for a florist to ask for a 15 - 20 % grat on top of what you are paying them?
This has been bugging me for weeks.

Re: Florist question
IMO, that's kind of rude to ask for a certain amount for a gratuity.

I have not heard of such a thing at all.
Even my hall only asked for 18%.

Not that I know of.
I dind't tip my florist, she gets a paid salary and I was told by friends it is not necessary. However I did tip the delivery person.

Re: Florist question
I think it is crazy for a florist to request a tip especially of that size. If you are paying $3000 for flowers 20% is $600. The work should speak for itself and then you give what you think is appropriate for the work and flowers provided. I think I know who you are talking about. Was it in the contract that you can include it when you make the final payment? I heard this from a bride who said she was not happy with them. Found this out when I was researching florists and that was the reason I did not choose this florist.

That is crazy and I have never heard of that. You are spending enough money on the flowers.

Re: Florist question
Who the heck is your florist?!?! I could see tipping the delivery/set up people if they are anxious to please....but a percentage..no way. Was it written in your original contract???
