Florist Question...

Hey Ladies!

I had a fewquestion regarding your florist quotes. We met with a florist over the weekend who we really like and as I'm reviewing the detailed proposal I had a couple questions...

1) Is it standard for florists to charge for rose petals? I'm getting charged like $95 for rose petals for the aisle. This seems a bit much no?

2) Also do most florists charge for the grooms/groomsmen boutonierres? At the other florist we saw, they were not going to charge anything for them... but we are getting quoted $10/ea at this current florist.

Just wondering what other people's experiences were... thanks so much!!!

My rose petals were thrown in, but we had to pay for the bouts....$10 isn't bad, but you could probably talk them down a little bit!

Talk to them and see what they can do for you. Tell them that you really like them and their creativity, but other florists were willing to do more for you for less....let them compete for your business!

We went to 4 different florists and they all charged for bouts.

We didn't get petals for teh aisle, but petals for all the tables were free.

i think we may skip out on the bouts. FH says they annoy him and when people are hugging the guys they always get crushed and end up crooked and i hate when they are crooked ina picture (sorry for the mini vent)

my FH and his groomsmen will not have them either - they remind me of the prom and FH hates them sometimes they do get crushed and sometimes they do look crooked - to be honest, when i look at peoples wedding pics on here i NEVER notice them (or notice that they are squashed or crooked, i just dont even notice them at all) but when i look at our pics its different and ill scrutinize them and i dont want to look at our pics and see anything crooked or squashed

oh good im glad someone else isnt doing them as well. everytime i bring that up to someone they look at me with 10 heads! they are like 'you really arent having them?' umm is it a sin to not have a guy wearing a flower? some places charge $10 for each one....we have a big bridal party....it'll save us $130

we were charged for bouts but petals were thrown in free of charge. i can see it being fine to be charged for them, but 90 bucks for them seems ridiculous!

im not doings bouts as well...instead in having my fh wear an ivory handkerchief and the gm wear a handkerchief in the bm dress color.

i am getting charged $8-10 for the bouts, and also $100 for the petals. i found it strange too that they charged me for the petals....

You have to negotiate on the rose petals imo $95 is crazy for that.
Most throw them in for free.

As for the bouts- we had to pay for them- about $5-8 each and DH got a second one free in case his got crushed during the day (which it did).
