Was hoping someone could recommend a florist. Im getting married at the OFC in Setauket, so somewhere near that area. Altho Im marrying on LI, I live in PA so I have to do most of coordinating over the phone/email. I left a message for Sugar Magnolias but haven't heard back. Has anyone used them? James Cress was another recommendation but I wasn't crazy about their work and hear their quotes are outrageous.
TIA!

Re: florist recommendation??
Flowers by Burtons are very reasonable. The charge one rate depending on what you need but you can get any flowers you want. All flowers are the same price, other florist charge more for some flowers if they are out of season. With burtons it doesn't matter.

Call Mike from Flower Barn. Just call and talk to him he is great. His prices where the best (of the quotes that I got) and his work is amazing. Flower Michele also does beautiful work you cant go wrong either way.

Flowers by Burton are great!
They do beautiful work and are easy to work with. Best part are their prices. Whereas florists ordinarily charged based on the type of flowers you want, they charge you based on the piece so you can use whatever flowers you want. Very affordable!

Re: florist recommendation??
Simply Stems is my florist and they have been amazing. Sandi is such a doll and so creative. She worked within my budget, yet I was still able to get the exact flowers I wanted.
FYI....Sugar Magnolias does amazing work. The owner is a real sweetheart and is unbelievably creative. However, they are very expensive. I could not see spending $5K on flowers.

Re: florist recommendation??
Hey there,
My wedding is at OFC as well, and I'm using Heidi at Sugar Magnoilas. I have had a really nice time working with her, she might just be frazzeled.
To date everyone I've called has raved about her work. Apparently she's not inexpensive, that said, I found her estimate to be completely fair, especially from what I've heard about the quality of the work.
Part of the reason I hired her is that I live in the city and can't get to long island all the time, I wanted to hire a vendor I was sure I could trust.
Good Luck.

Re: florist recommendation??
LOVE sugar magnolias. It's common to get the voicemail, but rather unusual for her to not call back very promptly.
Heidi is doing our wedding. She's very artistic and has wonderful detailed work.... She's not the cheapest florist, but her artistry more than makes up for that..... That said, her prices ARE reasonably competitive. I was nervous about picking a florist (I felt other florists were not listening to what I envisioned, and were just going to slap the bouquets together without much thought to the actual arranging of the blooms....), but after meeting her, I am not worried a bit!
