Florist Recommendation (not 'Wedding' specific)?

Hello Girls,

I'm going to start looking at florists and already have 3 LIWedding vendors in mind. Has anyone or is anyone using a florist in Nassau or Suffolk that isn't a 'wedding' specialist?

I'm in E. Meadow and my fiancee is in E. Northport. Any advice or recommendations would be most appreciated I want to keep my options open!!

Thanks! Maria

We used Towers Flowers in North Babylon. They were great!

I am also starting the florist hunt. I had three in mind I wanted to see. First is Burtons in Huntington. (631-424-3377) They come highly recommended, but are wedding specialists. Second, was Hengstenberg in Northport. (631-757-6688) My sister used them for her wedding and her flowers were amazing. She said they came in @ the same price as Burtons, but she went with them to give local shop the business. (we live in NPT and they are on Main Street). When I called yesterday to set up an appointment they told me they don't usually go as far as East Wind, but they have a new wedding floral designer so that might change. The third is the Flower Petaler in Huntington. (631-385-4494). I have to say, when I called to make the appointment I was impressed. The woman I spoke with - Meredith - told me I would be meeting with her. She then asked a ton of questions about what I had in mind, the style of my dress, BM dresses, color of dresses, # in party, the location and time of wedding etc. All questions I assume the other florists will ask when I meet with them. I was impressed because she asked them before I walk in the door, so she is prepared to show me what I am interested in through her sample books, as well as show me some things I might not have in mind. She also asked what my budget was so she could stay within it.

I am not meeting with any of them until October 1 because I want to see seasonal flowers that will be available for my Oct '06 wedding.

i'm using Masters and Co. in rockville centre, they are not 'wedding' florists.

she beat flower michelle, burtons, NFW, etc. by several hundred $$$ and threw in a ton of free flowers. FM for details.

i second Masters & co. they are doing my wedding and I like them better than all of the 'wedding' florists that i met with. They are very reasonable and extremely nice to work with.
