Florist snubbed me!

I am getting married out east and my church is in (the hamptons) b/c that is where my dad lives. The church musician recommended a florist as did my photographer. I found out she was in the same town as my dad so I called for an appt. She came and met w/ my FMIL, Dad and I for like, 2 hours at my dads house. She had GREAT ideas which I appreciated and showed us pics of GRAND weddings that she did where 'a budget wasn't even mentioned'. At the end, she asked what my budget was. I told her I had already gotten a quote from someone else for 3,000 but I would be willing to stretch to 5,000 (which I think is a lot) because she has great ideas.

She told me she would send an itemized proposal so I could treat it like a Chinese buffet and take what I want or leave what I want according to my budget.

It has been two weeks and I haven't received one either by e-mail or regular mail. I e-mailed her and she never responded.

I can understand if I am not worth her time, b/c who knows how much money she could make at one of her usual weddings, but you tell me that! I think I have been snubbed because I am not rich!

Just wanted to vent - sorry!

I share your anger. I went upstate, and I don't know what they were thinking, but one florist gave me a $15000, yes thousand, quote.
The second one NEVER GOT BACK TO ME! And it's been 5 weeks! I don't know what the both of them are smoking, but they need to come to LI and get a reality check!!!

As for your florist, I would call her and ask what her deal is.....not that you're really gonna like any of her replies. She'll either say what you think (about the budget) or that she's unreliable, and can't get back to people in a timely manner, neither of which you want to hear!

$3K-$5 on flowers is a LOT to spend...IMO!

If I were you, I wouldn't deal with her at all now. I bet you that just about any florist will deliver out to the Hamptons for a fee. And you would probably get more for your money in the long run.
