Florists?

Florists?

This will probably sound like a dumb question.

When you contact a florist for centerpieces, do you meet with the florist, and then go back to see a sample? Or do some florists make samples on the spot? I'm not sure how it works.

I called a florist the other day, and he wouldn't even take me seriously. He said 'you're wedding is over a year away, why are you looking now?' Guess he's not dying for business...

Talk to Cristina from Bella Flowers she'll take you very seriously and talk about all the different flowers. We have an appointment to see her this coming Saturday!

You make the appointment, discuss what you need and your vision (pics def help), and then when you book you get to see a sample. Only one florist made something for us on the spot (a mini bridesmaid bo-k just to be nice) and we met w/ 6 florists. no1 we met w/ suggested we were looking too early btw!!! try pedestals, you wont be disappointed!!!!

They do samples after you book them. Usually they will show you what they have there if it is similar to what you are looking for.

Mine is making a sample for me in January, but I did book with them and we discussed everything and looked through their pictures of what they can do.

Ive found that if a vendor says something like that, its a sign to run run run far away!

I agree with this. I emailed Cristina a picture and she didn't think she could make the exact thing I was looking for so she pointed me towards some other florists that she thinks can. I personally thought that was very nice of her cause she could have lied and then not make the centerpieces that I really wanted. She was very helpful and nice to deal with.

Re: Florists?

EVERY SINGLE TIME I GOT A RESPONSE FROM A VENDOR THAT SAID THAT I WENT CRAZY AND WENT OFF ON THEM,that is the single most ridiculous thing to me. Half of the vendors I wanted that said that I didnt book with because of it, if they arent looking for my business i'll take it elsewhere. end rant. and by the way my florist is amazing and because I booked so early he gave me major discounts. His name is Dennis Regas floral creations and he is on liberty ave in queens, NY if u want more info let me know. :)

Ladies who have booked florists already... so you all booked before seeing a sample cp? Is there a provision in your contract that lets you back out if you're unhappy with their sample?

I'm trying to figure out how the timing will work since I'm only in NY two or three times a year.

I dont have my contract at work, I dont think I can back out if I dont like the sample, but the sample would be modified until I do like it, then I sign off on the CP sample agreeing thats what I want and what I will get.

No - we will see the CP and on the spot tell them our thoughts about what we dont like. They said w/e we want changed will be done and then if need be we will come back for another one. But we are very confident in Pedestals - they have CP's all over their showroom which REALLY helps b/c you can ask them to point to something that reflects the size, shape, etc. of what you want so you have a better understanding of what you want and are paying for!
