So i started making appointments with florists, but im kinda lost--when i go i know approx. how many flowers i need, but i've heard a lot about samples--are these done before or after i book? will they show me centerpieces they have made? what should i expect at a meeting?

samples are done before u book. this way u can see what u are getting for what u are paying

I booked with J A C K a n d R O S E florist. And on of the things I loved was that I didn't have to pick the flowers right away and I could totally change from the samples. FM me if you want more info.

I went with Flower Michele but they won't do a sample until 3 months before the wedding.

You may want to check out Flowers & Designs by Gina. She is a vendor on LIW. She just did some unique CP's for MitziandAndrew (check out pics in her album). Gina originally worked for other florists, now she works directly out of her home.
If you are on a budget, she really works with you. She is giving me a bit more than Pedestals but is coming in at a a lower price and giving me the same flowers that Pedestals was offering.
You should definitely check her out!!!
ETA: You don't have to book with her first in order to see a sample centerpiece. I sent her an e-mail with the details of my vision and we spoke on the phone right after I sent the e-mail. She told me that she could whip up a sample centerpiece for this Saturday, so I am seeing her to check it out. If she is on point, I will definitely book her.

im using LA Blossom. She is a vendor on here. she works out of her home and really dedicates her time to your wedding. she does everything herself and her work speaks for itself. she did my sisters flowers and they were incredible and her prices are just as good. i explained to her my vision with my centerpieces and she nailed it. shes just so talented. i would recommend her 1082304 times over!!! - can you tell i looove her?
