florists rant

Why is this so hard! I thought I found the florist weeks ago, but as some of you know, she just fell off the face of the planet. I went to a really popular florist yesterday. Lots of LIW girls use them, and they don't have a rep for being very expensive. Well, their quote was 1k higher than my previous highest quote! I'm not even getting centerpieces! Some of the things I thought would be difficult (video, DJ) were so easy and things I thought would be a piece of cake (like florists) are needlessly complicated.

A lot of ladies were telling me to check with Michelle from hidden essence. She was amazing when I met with her this weekend and very reasonable in price.....check her out

I'm hopping things go well with her. Others have suggested her to me to, I have an appointment with her on Friday. Fingers crossed.

ughhhh i'm trying to find an inexpensive florist too, and it's the hardest thing everrrrr...

can you FM me the lady who's been giving you a hard time? I've got a sinking feeling that I have an appointment with her on Sunday, and i've been second guessing it already.

Lindsay......don't get discouraged just because the quote was higher. I went to one florist and got a quote. Then I went to the florist I m using. Their original quote was like 50 a table higher than the first florist (which comes out to a large difference when you are talking about at least 15 tables)

I was bummed because I really liked the second florist but there was no way I could justify spending that much more. I told the florist what I needed him to do for me to book and he matched the price.

There is a lot of room for negotiation

I know I have to negotiate, but I think the reason the quote was higher was because they have to build a chuppah from scratch, they don't have one to rent. I asked if they could come down on the price but they said they couldn't.

They will always say that they can not come down. But when you show them what someone else is willing to do it for the answer changes!

I am getting my chuppah through Hidden Essence, along with 18 CP's (3 heights, in my album), a TON of bridal party flowers, pom's for my aisles, petals and candles everywhere. Michelle will work with you!

I second this ... I wasn't excited about flowers in the least until I met with Michelle!

i agree w/ mara - NEGOTIATE. show them that others are quoting you less for comparable work. we are booked w/ pedestals and are working w/ Nadia and she has been gr8 so far and was willing to work w/ our budget. just keep looking you will find someone who is the rt fit
