Florists Tomorrow!

Going to visit Flowers by Brian (FBB) and Pedestals tomorrow! Wish me luck!

Any suggestions/anything I should know before I go? I need LIW words of wisdom!

I need all the help I can get!

ill tell you the truth
and i hate to put anyone down
i met with flowers by brian and they basically told me , a one of the flowers i wanted was not avaliable and that anyone telling me they were, was lying bc there expensive

not true, ive met with 5 other florists and they can get the peonies from holland
and also, i wanted orchids which they told me i could not have for under 175 a table

i hope your luck is better than mine, i mean, i have seen 5 florists so far, and they were the least pleasurable to deal with

hope i dont offend anyone, it may just be my experience

I met with FBB, really nice there but they were priceier than the other places I saw..plus they did not ask my budget to help guide my flower decision

I'm not big on flowers so I have no intention on spending a lot of money

i think you are going to find FBB to be cheaper but Pedestals to be better. I am going to have a problem like you though we can only use the house florists. Someone told me why when i went there. they Said that one of the florists that was not someone they usually used had bugs in there flowers and it was a big problem. So now they will only allow there approved people.

So we went to Pedestals and Flowers by Brian today. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. I met with Joe at Flowers by Brian and Rob at Pedestals and both of them were really helpful, accommodating and friendly. I was totally shocked!

Flowers by Brian:
They were able to work with me with what I wanted (and I didn't even negotiate at all with them yet). I didn't have to sacrifice the look I was going for and I was really lucky – they had a centerpiece on display that was basically EXACTLY what I was looking for. Joe was able to show it to me on a pedestal as well as on top of a tall vase and I didn't have to sacrifice having to do short centerpieces. I was able to see the tall centerpieces that I really really love. They were preparing sample bouquets and he even gave me the opportunity to hold one. Overall, FBB is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by me (at least so far!). Just FYI, centerpieces are $150 per table. He said the bouquet would run about $225 - for those interested about price. He said bridesmaid bouquets would run about $95 each. All in all my mock up came to about $4200, which I think is still too much for us to spend. They were willing to do cake flowers, petals for the flower girl, BM bouquets, GM boots, and about 20 assorted corsages and boots for other family members (p.s., i have a very large bridal party - 8 BM, 1 FG, and 9 GM - also price was based upon 18 tables). Also, tulle outside of the church with bows on the staircase and two huge altarpieces for the church, as well as a throwaway bouquet. Probably a couple of other throw-ins that I’m just not remembering at the moment. Joe brought me into the backroom where they actually put together the centerpieces and bouquets so I could see the facility, and they said that I would personally be able to see my bouquet and centerpieces the day before our wedding. He also said that if for whatever reason we had to cancel, we could use our deposit towards something else so it wouldn’t be money spent in vain.

Pedestals:
I met with Rob at Pedestals and their pricing initially came in much higher than FBB. For basically the same thing (except they weren’t offering a throwaway bouquet, cake flowers, or tulle outside the church), the price came to about $5000. When I told them I was really looking to spend about $3500, he very easily chopped the price down to $4000, without much negotiating on my part. I didn’t really like Pedestals as much – Rob basically went in the back and brought back 4 flowers to show me how they look together. Maybe I was just lucky at FBB, but Rob wasn’t nearly as accommodating as Joe was at FBB.
Just as an FYI, I actually went to high school with Virgil. He was a year ahead of me in school – we weren’t friends or anything, but it was really funny. When I walked in and saw him, he said hello, and then proceeded to hand me off to Rob. Guess he doesn’t like me very much lol.
