im going to my first florist appt tonight and i have no idea what kind of flowers i want. flowers are not really important to fh or myself.. we'd rather spend the money on other things so we want to keep the costs down on this area. my question is what flowers are usually cost effective and what ones are really expensive. i know calla lillies are expensive so i probably will have them only in my bo-k and not the bridal party as planned. any suggestions would really help. thanks guys!!
Flowers By Burton in Melville charges by quantity...all flowers are the same price!

Re: flower costs
THe only thing I know about this is that a low centerpiece is cheaper than a high one.
I would think that flowers that are common are 'in season' are the cheapest. Tell your florist thats waht you want. You know what should be economical . . . carnations!
Good Luck and have fun

What the other girls said is true. Jen from Verbena told me that Roses were one of the least, if not THE least expensive flower, so that's always good news!! Low centerpieces, greenery and Queen Anne's Lace or Baby's Breath to fill in, that saves money . . .

Re: flower costs
I was so surprised when I found out that roses were the cheapest.
We did all low centerpieces with just roses and hydrangea and it was still a lot more than we wanted to spend.

Re: flower costs
i wish they all just had a list of what cost what - then it depends on the 'grade' of the flower as well - as long as they are a reputable florist they should be able to give you a detailed list of what is what $$ and what they can put together - good luck

Re: flower costs **update
well i went to the appt today and lets just say it was soooo much more then i was looking to spend.
i need: 18cp rose petals for the church my bo-k 5 bm bo-k groom bout 6 groomsman bouts 3 dad bouts 4 corsages
i got quoted over $4500. i think that was a little pricey. the cp wall tall with calla lillies, hydrangeas and orchids. which i knew where expensive but she told me it wouldnt be that bad.. all the bm bo-ks were roses. so were the corsages. anyways i asked her to change them to low cp, switch out the flowers etc and the quote didnt go below $3000
in all honesty i dont want to spend more then 1500 at the most on flowers. anyone have any suggestions for what i need??

Re: flower costs
Well you can use fillers... alot of greenery and baby's breath. Also try using a local florist they normally have great prices.

Re: flower costs
My friend did most of her CP on her own. she still ended up going to a florist and spent about 1500 and she only had a MOH. I wish that I could be more help. Just be happy that you dont have to use someone yout RH makes you use. I can only use Spitz and Peck or Stefens. I looking at 5gs. Not happy about it. Good luck!

Re: flower costs
I dont know where you went but I'd recommend Flower Michele... theyre not all one price like Burtons but so far John is just soooo nice to work with... he suggested me buying funkins (fake carvable pumpkins) on my own for the centerpieces instead of paying them for real ones... the difference in price from Flowers by Brian with real pumpkins to Flower Michele with me buying the funkins was over $50 savings per centerpiece. I hate to be so pro vendor before the wedding but he really seems great!
