I've visited 4 florists in the past 2 days (good thing I love flowers!) I've narrowed it down to 3, but the one I felt understood my vision best showed me a sample they had and several of the flowers were wilted and browning at the edges. Now, I don't know what this centerpiece was being used for (it could have been from yesterday) but why would a florist bring a centerpiece back to the shop if not to re-use the flowers? Or if they weren't reused, were they going to use this piece for a wedding tonight? They had the most gorgeous stand and were able to give me exactly what I wanted, but I would be mortified if my guests saw wilty flowers at their tables. What would you do? Would you request to see another sample? Give up and move on?

Flower freshness?
I would have just asked why the flowers were wilted. Also some flowers tend to wilt earlier than others. I am having hydrangea flowers for my wedding in July and my florist told em that whenever my girls or I are not using the flowers for pictures we have to have them in water or they will wilt.

Def just ask them about it. It's possible the sample was from days ago. Not a good idea to show a new customer that but it could be explainable.

I would be concerned. I have started using grower/ sellers for floral arrangements for special occasions, and I have had flowers look nice and fresh for two plus weeks. If a bloom has sat in the wholesaler for days and then two-three days at the florist, it was already picked at least a week ago before you see it. Ask about where the flowers are arriving from and when they were picked

It may have been a sample made for another bride. You don't know how many days its been there. I would honestly just tell the florist about your concerns. See what they have to say.
As for hydrangeas...one florist told me she won't use them in bouquets ever bc they wilt. The florist I hired said hydrangeas are possible in a bouquet and depend on the kind they are.

From what I understand I met w florists yesterday is that they make up samples for rides that already booked and put them on their showroom. (You could have been seeing a sample from a few days ago) I would be honest and just ask, if you don't unwould probably wonder until your wedding
