Flower Girl Dresses...

Flower Girl Dresses...

am alittle upset about (but trying not to be bridezilla and not let it bother me but I am upset) Last month before FH and I went to Disney on vacation I talked to my flower girls mother regarding there dresses and we agreed we would go together to look for dresses for the girls... well guess what she went without me and bought 2 dresses ... see attached pics... I am not a huge fan ~ I have only seen them via email -- so I am not sure what it looks like in person ~ I just can't beleive she went with out me when I specifically asked her if we could go together! Let me know what you think...

(this is the closest thing I could find that was similar ~ this is not the exact dress but similar to the dress the FG's mom sent via e-mail)

PS Thanks for listening to me vent ~ I have been thinking about this for a couple of days...
PSS I am also worried because I am wearing Ivory (I was told this dress is ivory ~ Ivory's can be funny sometimes tooo ivory or too white... )

I like the ivory one... not too crazy about the lavendar one. Is wasn't the most considerate, but the dress is pretty neutral, so if it were me, I wouldn't be too upset. After all, you have sooo much to organize, you can now at least check off the dress. But yeah, it was a bit presumptuous of her to go without you, especially after your conversation....

We got this dress- ivory with a black sash http://www.bestbridalprices.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=4_50&products_id=1984

the ivory is nice but since you specifically told her you want to go, she should have waited! it's your wedding YOU should decide. if you don't like them then tell her!

Thank you for your response. Your FG dress is what I love ~ I wanted something in ivory with the brown or aqua sash (our wedding colors) the ivory dress was purchased... but what do i say the mom already bought the dresses... I feel like such an idiot ~ I don't want to sound ungrateful... but I did not have any say in anything...

Re: Flower Girl Dresses...

That is ridiculous!!! First of all, you shouldn't have to ask to go together......in my opinion, that should be understood by the FG's mother.

I'm sorry she did this!!! Find out if the order can be put on hold and you can pick a different one.

Good luck!!!

Thank you! I know... If I said go and get something I would be totally fine with it but I had no say or input... which i thought was weird...

ha! Even better.....she needs to get out her receipt and bring those dresses back!!! It may sound mean, but just say that you had something different in mind!! Don't be worried about being a bridezilla- I think the FG's mom acted more like a bridezilla. When you ask for someone to be your flowergirl it should be understood that when they say yes they are agreeing to what you pick. Just like having bridesmaids- can you imagine one of your BM's going out and buying her own dress?? That is so rude!!!! I hope everything works out!! Just remember you are not wrong to ask her to take them back!!

I dont think you sound like bridezilla at all. I mean, we all stress over picking BM dresses so why not have the FG dress be exactly what we want too? I would tell her that you were really hoping you could both go together b/c you had a dress in m ind that matched your BP a little better. And ask if she would mind if you went again just maybe to take a look at the one that you had originally had your eye on

Re: Flower Girl Dresses...

Thanks to you ladies ~ I did it I emailed the FG's mom... What do you think ~ sounds ok? I hope so I already sent it...

Hi C,

I will try to give you a call in a little bit! I don't know how to say this but I like the girls dresses that you bought but I am not in love with them and when I was thinking about the flower girls I was thinking more on the line of this kind of dress...

If you are set on the dress you already purchased and it matches the ivory that is fine but if you are on the fence about it I was wondering if we could keep looking... My wedding colors are brown and tiffany blue... I wanted to either have the girls in ivory with a sash in the brown or the tiffany blue. (or possibly a tiffany blue dress with an ivory/brown sash)

What do you think? I hope you are not offended or mad? I really thought we could go together & thought it would be fun.... I will try to give you a call in a bit....or today/tonight!

Love ya bunches,
xoxo

Re: Flower Girl Dresses...

Sooo NOT being a bridezilla. You have every right to be upset/annoyed. She really should have waited for you. I've never heard of the FG's mom picking out the dress without at least consulting with the bride. Giving her the benefit of the doubt she could have been trying to take things off your plate and wanted you to have one less thing to pay for.

Maybe you can delicately let her know that you think the dress is adorable but not exactly what you invisioned your FG wearing as it doesn't fit it with your theme/colors. What is the store's return policy? I think if you position it very nicely she'll be ok.

I do think the ivory dress is sweet but I understand that it's not what you're going for.

One last question/comment..it might be a little early to purchase the FG dress now. Kids grow like weeds! My FG's mom's only request was that I wait until 3 months before the wedding bc her daughter grows like she's a stalk of corn!

the dress looks cute, but i would be pissed off too!!!! its your wedding....bridesmaid dont go and pick out there own dresses so what makes her think she can pick out the flower girl dresses????

it looks cute so at least, the dress is nice, but did she buy the dress in ivory also? if your dress is ivory, then the flower girl should wear ivory too!!

Hi Ladies this was FG's mom response to my e-mail....

I didn't know you were interested in other colors, I thought we discussed ivory in the traditonal flower girl way- but I would appreciate you looking at them in person first and then we could go from there

not sure what is going to happen

Re: Flower Girl Dresses...

That stinks. It is your wedding and you should have had the opportunity to pick out what you wanted. I think the dress is very cute though. I hope you are happy with it when you see it in person.

OMG!!!!!!! I would go postal on this woman!!!! Maybe I'm just a b*tch- but I would stand up to this woman- I think you wrote the nicest e-mail to her explaining how you wanted your color theme to follow suit with the FG dresses.......and regardless of whatever you guys might have discussed before, YOU are the bride, and YOU are entitled to change your mind 10 times if you wanted to!!!! But it sounds like the colored sash is something you wanted all along, so who knows what she is talking about.....don't let her make you feel bad!!!! And if she's saying 'I thought we discussed blah blah blah' before then why is it she conveniently forgot you two discussing that you wanted to go together????? I would go nuts!!!!! You seem like such a nice person, she probably thinks she can get her way! Stand your ground, you don't want to compromise the FG dresses.

I have to ask you, who is this woman to you? Just curious if she's from your side or the grooms.

Thank you so much ladies ~

Helen actually this is my FH's aunt (they are close in age to us) FH 's mother's brothers wife... I have always been very friendly with her... never had a problem before.

actually the picture i posted is a lot prettier (I found off this website) the picture that was sent to me was my FG's posing in the dresses & I did not want to post them... actually one of the girls it looks like it is tight on her and in one of the close ups it looks like the neck is coming apart...

Thanks so much ~ FH & I are going to try to go to there house tomorrow to see and discuss the situation. Wish me luck! I will needs lots of hugs... I HATE confrontation! Either I get super mad or super emotional.... or mad then emotional. anyhooooooo....you are all the best!

This was my response to her last e-mail:

Hi C,

I will totally look at the dress in person and see if it works ~ like I said I am just concerned about the different ivory colors... I was thinking of the traditional flower girl dress but I also loved the flower girls with color....but I figured we would have discussed it more when we went dress shopping together.... Let me know what your schedule is (this week has been crazy with house stuff and we are starting to get ready to tear down the kitchen)

----------------------------------------------------------------

* FH & I are going to try to get there after work tomorrow we shall seeeeeee
