For those brides who are looking to save money on flowers or already did
1) What type of flowers did you use...I'm getting married in July
2) Besides the low centerpieces what else did you do if anything.
I have 12 tables and 7 bridesmaids plus my bouquet and I really don't want to go over $1,000 if that's possible. I live in Florida so I have been emailing florists but I'm clueless as what to say.
Thanks ladies any help is appreciated

$1000 is probably kind of hard to do ... but you might come close.
i negotiated a lot with the florist, and told him that for the BMs, i want less flowers than he was originally giving (so instead of, say 15 flowers per bouquet, he'll only use 10) ... that brought my price down a bit.
you should also try to use locally grown flowers that bloom in your wedding month (so they don't have to fly them in from around the country).
HTH and good luck!

Google East Northport florists and go down the line for quotes. Have you thought about roses and carnations? they are all budget friendly. Its possible with your budget but its gonna be hard- do you have a DOC here in NY or someone in BP that could visit places for you- sometimes better to negotiate in person

I could send my fmil but by the time she leaves the house and does it it will be the week before my wedding lol. Most of my bridesmaids live in Brooklyn and the one who lives in Huntington might but she's always busy with work. It's so hard planning from here.
I'll do the best I can.

You should contact Designs by Rose . I also have 7 girls in my bridal party and 10 tables. I was on a budget of $1100 and when she told me how much I was going to be paying in just bouquets of roses, I was not very happy. Same for the center pieces. She suggested that I do calla lies for my centerpeices and girl bouquets, and that would bring my quote down. I think calla lilies are beautiful! But I didnt go with it because I really wanted red roses (its my color scheme), so instead, I increased my budget a little bit and she worked with me on the price. I think that it might have been less because you would not be using as many flowers.
If you are open to the idea of calla lilies you should contact her and let her know that you are on a budget. Good luck!

You're having your wedding at Larkfield? They have candelabras that are already on the tables, so you can save on centerpieces that way. I'm having my wedding there too, but they don't match my theme, so I'm doing birch branches and ornaments. I'm doing them myself, so they're going to wind up costing me around $300 for everything.

agreed. I did a third walk thru of larkfield on Saturday (yep third time!) and there was a wedding going on and she had no flowers on the tables just the candelabras and they looked gorgeous all lit up

Re: Flower help for budget bride
FH husband said we didn't have to have flowers because of the candlebras but I didn't know if that was enough. Are they on the middle of the table?
Then my friend said even if you have candles you should still have something else on the table so then I didn't know what I should do.

they got put on the middle of the table. You can even do a super small little CP and put it in the middle of the candelabra. They screw out some of the candles and screw on a plate and then put ur arrangement on the plate. that would be cute! and would be a lot cheaper then doing reg CP

some of us on the 2010 boards were talking about how really tight balls of carnations are becoming a very popular arrangement in bo-ks and centerpieces...they aren't expensive and they last forever!

are you having a theme? maybe the girls can hold fans? parasols, if you are doing it outside?

No I'm not having a theme. I'm not really worried about the bm's boquets more the centerpieces because that's what gets expensive.

Re: Flower help for budget bride
My best friend just told me she did this last year at her wedding she had the candlebras with her flowers on top and I didnt even realize it. All I remember is that her flowers were really high and I don't even remember seeing candles lol.
