The candles are spring loaded so the tall white column you see in the pic is actually metal. the dripless candle fits inside of this metal tube and as it burns down the spring inside pushes the unused pasrt of the candle up - so the height of the tapers always remains the same. Its hard to describe - ask John to show you. Lauren -- thats exactly what I told John - i want something very structured and not messy. No hanging ivy or eucalyptus sticking out. We must have the same taste.
