Flower Preservation and Cake Box

Flower Preservation and Cake Box

Okay, I'm less than 3 weeks away and I still have no idea what to do with my bouquet - so any info on that would be great!

Also, a cake storage box for our top tier - I have no clue what it is called - but where did any of you ladies purchase this!

I feel like I'm going to forget something - so much to do!

You can dry you bouquet upside down -- have your mom or someone in the family take it home and do this right away. I didn't and it didn't perserve very well and I was pretty upset about it. I wanted to do this thing I saw on Martha Stewart. Dry some of the pedals in between pages in a book or something similar and then paste them onto a pretty sheet of paper and frame it -- write on it in calligraphy or nice print and say 'Bridal Bouquet' and display it in the house. In a few years -- it really wont matter so much anymore. I don't know many folks who even did anything with their bouquets.

The cake storage. Just have your caterer/hall box it up for you. When you get it home, wrap it in several layers of plastic bags and aluminum foil and you should be fine. Sometimes the hall will do this for you. Don't go out of your way to purchase a cake box -- it's not worth it.

Cira I saw something at one of the wedding shows that I fell in love with. This woman takes your bouquet and somehow presses it into a big picture frame. Its beautiful. You get to pick the frame of course and from what I saw it looked awesome. The bad points are: she's in CT, (I found her at a bridal show at the Surf Club in Westchester I've been trying to find someone in LI who does this and haven't found one yet) she said she only about 1/2 hour 45 min. from The Surf Club which really isn't too bad. You would have to get the flowers to her within a few days. It also cost a couple of hundred to do, so I don't know if your interested. I have her flyer and a post card that she gave me of her work at home so if your interested let me know and I will get it tonight and post her number for you tomorrow so you can call her.

Thanks so much Alnli ... I'd like her number - I'm not sure what I'm doing yet - but would love to see all my options!

I would love to have her number too. I was just assuming I would have the flowers freeze-dried, I didn't know that I had antoher option.

Sorry guys it took so long to respond I kept forgetting to bring the postcard in. Anyway its called 'Articrafts' by Lisa A. Bologna she has a website www.preservedflorals.net it looks like the site is not really finished but you can at least see a picture of what I am talking about. She has a phone, fax and cel number on the postcard I have, phone & fax 203-618-1715 and cel 203-550-0802. I saw some of her work at the bridal show and it really was amazing.

i wanted to freeze dry my flowers (freeze drying is when even the color is preserved,) but i couldnt find anyone on the island that does this... i hung mine upside down and then sprayed it with hair spray every two hours.. it didnt come out the greatest but i hear there is a kit you can buy at micheals that dries it really nicely.. i wish i would have bought it and done that...Good luck!!
