flower tables instead of numbered tables

how do the guest know without confusion where they are to be seated if I use flowers instead of numbers? how do i display that or is it too confusing I dont want my guest to get mad right at the beginning. thanks.

Just instead of the number, write out the word:

Mr. and Mrs. John Smith
Gardenia

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Smith
Rose

It will be fine...cute idea btw

We're thinking about doing countries. We'd be putting a sign with the country name on each table, and then the placecards would say:

Mr. and Mrs. John Doe
Table - India

I think we are doing cities in India since it is an Indian ceremony.

We are going to put the name of the city on the place cards and the table and then maybe a little card on each table with a bit of info on the city.

I like the flower idea- are you going to have that flower as the centerpiece? Are you doing different centerpieces for each table?

I actually did the flower tables for my May 9th wedding, it worked out fine. I gave the hall the seating chart and they helped direct the guest to their tables. The hall also put small table numbers in pretty frames on the tables for their waitstaff. I really loved the idea, I thought it was different

Thanks, I'm not sure if I am going to use different centerpieces. I will have 16 tables so I will have to be very creative if I did each flower as a centerpiece. would it be dumb if I did put the number small on the placecard like this (1) to avoid them from wandering in the reception looking for the flower? vs how did you do it?????????? thanks. ps I am also going to put the meaning of the flower on the table as well. (if i can find my list)

good idea about putting the meaning of the flower on the tables. i don't think it's dumb to put the # on the placecard too- it won't be as confusing for the guests.

it would probably be too costly and involved to do different centerpieces- i didn't know if that's what you had in mind- so that's why i asked.
