So, I had most of my vendors booked before I even signed up to LIW, but there are two things I've been really dragging my feet on: Bridemaid dresses and flowers. I've finally settled on BM dresses, and now I have to think about flowers. There was a thread a few days ago about 'how much are you spending on flowers' and I saw some prices that I thought were really low for Flower Michele. Is this true?? Are the prices great? Also girls who are planning on using them, what do I do? Make an appt and they show me catalogues? I'm so flower-naive! I'm perusing their webpage in another window, and I see so many pretty things! Advice please!

Re: Flowers
Well it really depends on what flowers you want., because lets say you want tulips they are not in season in October so they are marked up b/c they have to be flown in from Amsterdam or wherever...
It also depends on how many peopel you are having and how many tables....or if you want low or high. Depends on how many people u have in your BP and if you want to 'dress up' your church or not.

Re: Flowers
when i went to flower michele i brought pics that i printed out from websites of flowers i was interested in, styles i liked etc. it helped alot b/c john was able to see what i wanted and then worked from it. also if you have a swatch of the bm dresses that helps too. i had one with me and it helped.
good luck!

Re: Flowers
I'm definitely going to look into flowers that are either easy to get year round or seasonal pieces. I definitely want low, and a little bit of church decor. I only have 4 BM and I'll need maybe 15 or 16 low centerpieces. I'm not paying, but I dont want to shock the hell out of my mother. Someone mentioned they wre spending liek 1500 and I thought that was insanely cheap. Is this about the range?

Re: Flowers
I agree with the above posting. Try to stay seasonal with your flowers.. Any good & honest florist will tell you - that's going to be a bit pricey for that month, etc...
Your best bet would be to save some pictures of what you like, print them out and bring them to your first floral meeting.

Re: Flowers
I negotiated with John and was able to get him down to fit my budget, and I also switched around a few things to get to the price I needed. He was definitely flexible. I posted on that thread you're talking about, so I'm not sure if one of the posts you're referring to was mine, but if it was, you can FM me and I'll tell you exactly how it went down!

possible., again all depends on size of wedding and type of flower.

We're having between 150 and 175 ppl most likely. I'd really like something simple, like a bowl of roses or something. I dont' know! i'm really not a flower person, I want somethign clean and simple.

Re: Flowers
Flowers is the next thing on our 'to do list'. We just booked Silver Fox who recommended both Pedestals and Bayview. I basically know what I want when it comes to centerpieces and stuff, but I'm not sure about the colors. You girls think I should do some research beforehand or can I just walk in and they'll show me colors that go w/ my color scheme? *Please respond in FM, Thanks!

Re: Flowers
I was very flower naive also when i stareted, but after talking to some florists, i learned quickly.
Besides the type of flower, you should know what you want. For example, do you want high or low centerpieces? Do you want an aisle runner? Do you want flowers on your invitation table? Are the mothers getting corsages? Are the men getting boutineres (sp?)? Do you want petals for a petal toss? Do you want flowers on the cake?
I am sure there are more questions. I went to flower michele and John was very nice. I am sure he will guide you through.

Re: Flowers
a friend of mine used them and loved them and said they were super reasonable (though she didn't say how much i know money was tight) which surprised me b/c they are so popular...
i have't done flowers yet either and i'm totally clueless and don't really care that much is that weird?? all i know is i hate anything pink.... and i'm SO happy that the riviera includes our centerpieces so i only have to deal with bouts and bouquets.
