I recently went to the florist to go over flowers for my august wedding and the estimate I was given was a little ridiculous for what I wanted (I felt) Is it ok to do the ceremony flowers yourself (its quite simply just expensive.. flowers will be silk) but have the florist provide the centerpieces and boquets?

Re: flowers
You don't even have to have flowes for the church. I'm not. There's flowers already there at my church.

Re: flowers
Just another suggestion to think about - you might want to speak w/ Flowers by Burton in Melville...they are a wholesaler & you may be able to get the exact flowers you'd love for a much better price than to just settle for something DIY that you just like...

I'd try Burton's. Their flowers are beautiful and the prices are very reasonable.

Re: flowers
I cut floral prices by getting the bridal party silk bouquet's and silk boutonnieres for the groomsmen. I also got silk flowers for the pew decorations.

Re: flowers
I totally understand you! we went to see about 5 or 6 florist before going with burtons because they in my opinion did great work and had a great price. Than the change happened--we changed our wedding date and burtons happened to be closed during the time of our wedding. So we had to go with our second choice who to get close to the price of burtons we had to X the church flowers. It will still be nice though. I would def shop around and check out burtons. You can always email what you want to vendors on this site-some diamond card ones give discount

Re: flowers
if you want to do silk, just make sure to see them in person first. i fell in love with ones i found on etsy, got samples and they look horrible. now i'm scrambling to figure out what to do.
