flowers...

ugh...I need opinions...so just some background, I'm not doing centerpieces or church decorations...all I am planning on getting are 7 bouquets, including mine and 2 moh's - 10 boutonnieres including the groom, groomsmen and dads and 8 corsages - I have only been to two florists - and was quoted somewhere around 800 or 850 from the first one, and was quoted 750 from the second - am I being unreasonable by thinking these are alot for no centerpieces or church decorations? I don't know if the fact that I'm doing ALL and ONLY roses makes a difference - but I'm just a little surprised by the prices!

is it just me??

I do have another florist appointment on Monday - I think if it's somewhere around the same pricing, we're just gonna with the lowest price

I think that sounds right actually. I'm not doing flower centerpieces either and I only have 1 MOH, no bridal party, so only 2 bouquets and 6 boutonniers and 3 wrist corsages. I am also doing pew bows and 2 floral arrangements for the ceremony. Mine came to about $650....I wonder if I was overcharged now...lol.

Did you try B*urtons?

PS...I'm doing roses too in the bouquets,,,my MOH's is all roses.

Did you try Hidden Essense? Michelle is great to work with.

Re: flowers...

My sister bought the flowers for her wedding wholesale and spent about $200 including 5 bouquets, 5 boutonnieres, church decorations and centerpieces. Granted, she had to make everything herself, but flowers were the only thing she left till the last minute and if you have each of your bridesmaids make their own, it's quite easy.

That being said, it is a lot of stress to have to take care of all that. What you're really paying for with that $700-$900 is the work that goes into putting them together. A lot of online sites will make bouquets etc for you (fiftyflowers.com comes to mind and will make bouquets etc to be mailed to you a day or two before your wedding for closer to $600 for all roses), and if you are a member of BJ's or Costco, they tend to have florists on premise who will probably also cut you a deal.

Hope this helps! :)

You'd be surprised to see how much personals cost. It sounds about right though but keep going to different florists until you get the best price!

Your bouquet is probably in the $100-175 range
MOH's are probably $85 each
Corsages are probably $20-25 each
Bouts are probably $10-15 each

Re: flowers...

Thank you for the responses! I guess this is about right...I didnt go to hidden essence or b*rtons...i wanted to keep it more local.. although the first place we went to was flower barn (which was the more expensive one)...I just thought it was out of the way just for flowers (I live in college point) I went to florist hills and Monday I have chic flowers which is apart of Haas florist in college point

Lol I also don't think I have the patience to make the bouquets...were already going to be carving pumpkins days before the wedding lol I don't know if ill have it in me to make bouquets too

Thank you again for the help!

Roses are on the more expensive end of the floral spectrum. When you talk to each florist ask what the cost difference would be if you used a different flower (if using a different flower is an option for you). See if they are willing to work with your budget.

This is pretty accurate according to the 5 florists I met with. Top 2 for best pricing were Towers Flowers in Nesconset and Hidden Essence.

It seemed a bit high to me until I broke it down. I would try B*urtons if you haven't gone there already. They had the best pricing by far for me.

Re: flowers...

That doesn't sound too outrageous being you have a large bridal party.
I'd suggest meeting with Designs by Rose, I'm booked with her and we had a tight budget and she met it, and provided a better looking product then what others were offering me for the same price.
